The amount of hate Chavez gets on this site is ridiculous. He's one of the most dominant champions of recent times and it showed several times when he faced top contenders and made them look like rookies. Sure his style wasn't as flashy as Roy's or Whitaker's, but it was effective and he used his tools better than Roy IMO.

Chavez' demise began when was on top of the boxing world for years and it got to his head. It's documented that he began to lose his focus and got into drugs after the Camacho fight. If he had retired then, his accomplishments and ability wouldn't be questioned as much as they are.

In regards to ATG, Chavez > Roy > Pernell

well when you reach 80 something fights without a man to beat you, name one person that would'nt have lost focus. I probably would have thought i was superman.:bbb

So never mind who the fighters were, or how good they are.... It means much more that they were "full-time"

For me this is no brainer. Jones by a clear margin.

I am surprised it is so close. I thought Roy would have won this 2-1 or so.

Well considering ESB gen Forum you are correct.

But by most knowledgeable fans id say Chavez gets this in a close one.

I think it gives an fairly accurate view of how close they are to eachother on the ATG list.
Some have JCC slightly higher, some RJJ, and some just like or don't like one of them and have them wide apart. But at the end they would be within a small distance of eachother on the list.
