Not true. My reply to 'demigawd' was 100% spot on. There was no contradiction in my post. Just to refresh.

False. Wladimir during 'the second greatest era ever', the 90's, managed to destroy Phil Jackson with ease. The same Phil Jackson that was considered good enough to challenge for a shot at the World title against "at least the 3rd best HW ever" Lennox Lewis during that era. Not to mention Wladimir during the 90's also beasted the great Schulz who infamously suffered 'the three way robbery' of title robberies during that era.

Lewis didn't do enough to get him in the ring. Imagine if Ali never fought Foreman?

I remember David Haye said something similar yet Wladimir got him in the ring and beat his ass regardless.

    Perhaps.

Gotta say Lewis, but his best wins both Tyson and Holyfield were past their primes, tho Lewis is around the same age or older. Vitali was Lewis's best win as Vitali was in his prime and Lewis was not. Oscar's win over Chavez largely doesn't count either as Chavez was close to done, but Oscar in reality did win his most important fight with Trinidad and did avenge his loss to Mosley and won a close classic with Quartey. Oscar's only legit losses was to Hopkins and Mosley the first time.

Easily Oscar IMO, the names on his resume, win or lose are far greater. Lewis lost to boxers he had no business losing to. By KO at that. Oscar lost to some ATGs and some are questionable decisions. (Altho he has a couple gifts himself.)

Probably razor close but I'll lean to Lennox. I think my answer could easily change though and the argument would be Oscar's depth of quality wins and big kudos for the total divisions which he rose to the top in.

Lennox would never get outboxed by a guy on the level of Felix Sturm. DLH is just about fit to hold LLs spit bucket

By the same token DLH never got KTFO by mediocre opponents like Rahman and McCall.

Phil Jackson, who Lewis beat in '95, somehow becomes a benchmark for Wlad's readiness to compete with Lewis, some 5 or so years and several losses later?

Good grief! This is possibly one of the funniest retorts, in the defence and bigging up of Wladimir Klitschko, I have ever seen.

That's Heavyweight for you but Lewis avenged both defeats with brutal knockout victories therefore beating every guy he ever faced. De la Hoya only attempted to avenge one defeat which he lost

Anyone arguing DLH over Lewis simply DKSAB

It depends on what you value more highly:-

    a) Lewis defeating every guy he ever faced, in what is generally recognised as very good era of Heavies; avenging his defeats; being considered a top-ten ATG Heavyweight.

    or

    b) Oscar striding through weight divisions (an option Lewis didn't have); winning and losing in big fights along the way, without successfully avenging his defeats. Plus, how much worth is placed on his Middleweight campaign, perhaps?

For me, Lewis is more solid as an ATG.
