Vargas was definately not the same after Tito, but not finished at that time.
You could say worse for Lewis win over Tyson and Holyfield had been KOd previously also and didnt look amazing when beating fighters like Bean.
Chavez wasnt finished when Oscar got in the ring with Oscar. It wasnt long before Chavez was beating Parisi.
Gatti was a bit of a gimme for Oscar but did go on to have success in his career, but agreed he wasnt a full WW, but as said Holyfield had to build up to become a HW.
Oscar was troubled by Sturm, especially at the end, but each round is scored independantly and it was a close fight that I dont think Oscar lost.
I dont think he lost the Whittaker fight.
I dont think he lost the Quartey fight.
Some feel Lewis could have lost a decision to Mercer and you never saw Oscar when prime suffering a KO loss like Lewis did either

Solid arguments can be made both ways. Anyone using the "you DKSAB" argument is simply a stupid ****.

Chavez wasn't even nearly faded like Tyson was in 2002, to be honest. Tyson was completely shot and had 3-round stamina.

Think it's a bit harsh firstly to say well Oscar has a better record, I think it's a lot easier to build an impressive "resume" fighting at a weight where u have the option of going up or down to suit making a fight

Lewis was in one division without the option of fighting fighters from multiple weight classes and still managed to fight everyone apart from Bowe

And also stating that he should nvr have been ko'ed by Rahman is harsh as Rahman is better than ppl give him credit for and Oscar has been hit with many shots like that but they just were not thrown by someone weighting 18 stone or more

Oscar had a great career but he was given the benefit of the doubt in every close fight he had, won most of his legitimate fights when he was young and ultimately wasn't able to adapt as he got older thus losing most of his notable fights later in his career... He Ultimately fell short in the legacy fights of his career

Axel was one of the major players of the 90's. infamously suffering "The three way robbery" trilogy of title robberies.

I've been a hardcore boxing fan since 1992. I do not remember Schultz being a "major player" in the 90s. I must've missed it when he was shaking the division up.

You must have missed his 3 World title fights. One of which was an easy win over an ATG coming of his most memorable win.

I remember him getting robbed against Foreman. And that is absolutely it. He was a bit-part player in the 90s at best.

By the way, I should probably clarify: I lived and breathed boxing from 1992-2006. Not so much in the last 8 years when boxing went to (relative) sh1t. I'm paying a bit more attention to it these days. Have still been watching the big fights.
