to help us in making our list of top 100 ATG, i think it would be a good idea to make this poll to see where to place these boxers in the ATG list. i rank galaxy higher than lopez
Lopez based on the level of skill he displayed. He seemed a much better fighter to me, though it's known I'm no fan of Galaxy's style, and the fact that he didn't prove it very conclusively against the elite makes me even more hesitant to give him the credit some do. I'm shady enough on where to rank Lopez, but he at least showed world class technical ability that I believe would've translated to the elite stage, whereas I'm not completely sure about with Galaxy.
I am fan of Lopez's textbook orthodox style, and I am just as equally a fan of Khaosai's walk-forward-and-throw-bombs-until-one-connects-to-knock-his-opponent-the-****-out style. But Lopez is by far the better fighter. Too much skill.
Lopez for me too. I actually think Khaokor may have been the better fighter of the two brothers. He was a slightly lesser puncher, but better in most other respects in a similar style to Khaosai.More fluid, quicker, better chin, better punchpicker... He also has the better wins against Vazquez and a thorough domination of Moon, though sung-kil does have the legit excuse of his trainer dying the night before the fight, which saw him enter the bout having not slept or ate much at all and generally in no state to fight.Khaokor was coming on strong in the first fight as well however, when The customary accidental cuts stopped it. The Espinosa fight does taint him though.A lot of asian boxing fans think that fight was a blatant fix.
Wow, when did Khaosai show a weak chin, or anything to indicate his wasn't as good as his brothers? Also, the Espinosa fight looked very legit to me. Looked like a temple shot with a very delayed reaction. Surely not the way one would go about throwing a fight, going down after the punch like that. Reminded me of Trinidad hitting the iron chinned Troy Waters on the temple and getting a similar reaction.
Not much love for Galaxy on this thread. I guess Lopez was much better known. In reality this is actually a very, very tough call. No doubt Lopez was the better technical fighter but Galaxy was a force of nature, his one punch power was unreal. Too close to call. Flip a coin.
I don't base my view because Lopez was better known, but because of Lopez's skills - he could do it all. Galaxy was one-dimensional, but he was also fun as hell to watch because his bone-cracking punching power made up for his lack of technical skills.
It didn't look like any kind of legit delayed reaction to me Russell. And this was coming from a guy who had taken the bombs from huge hitters like vazquez and Moon with ease.Khaokor was renowned for his jaw at the time. Could have been legit, but still highly suspect imo. and i don't think there was anything wrong with Galaxy's chin.Maybe what i should have said was more proven chin on the part of Khaokor.
lopez is not top 4 mexicans for me..cesar chavez, sanchez, olivares and zarate... morales,MAB and lopez are close..
Lopez, simply due to the fact that his opposition, on the whole, was slightly better, and due to the fact that by and large he displayed a greater variety of skills throughout the course of his fights.
