Pacquaio by a hair, and this is coming from someone who probably rates Hearns a bit higher than most.

Where is Booradley with that Hearns Video?

    This is getting ****in ridiculous.

Very few boxers in our generation has the type of resume Hearns has. And he fought anyone who would dare say his name. Exciting? Pac ain't even close. Competition? All I'll say is one name - Sugar Ray, well, two more names - Roberto Duran and Marvin Hagler.

Has anyone ever saw someone go out on his shiled like the Hearns-Hagler fight?

    Hagler - lost
    Leonard - 0-1-1
Duran - won in a fight three weight classes up from his best class (and he only won one more significant fight from there on out)
Barkley - lost (in the same timeframe that Barkley lost to Kalambay, Nunn, Duran and Benn)

His best two wins were scraping by Benitez and beating Virgil Hill, then Duran, then a big drop off. Pacquaio was damn close to Hearns before moving way up to beat Hatton and de la Hoya, and it's not as if Pacquiao wasn't facing most of the best competition in his era as well, which was also a strong era.

As I see it, Pac's about halfway between Hearns and Leonard, and a decisive victory over the Mayweather-Marquez winner would put him with Leonard.

i'll probaley get some **** for this but hearns was alway's overated in my eye's for simple fact he didn't do that well in big fight's.The most impressive win on his resume was a 2nd round ko of duran. He won a close fight with benetiz but he lost twice to leonard was knocked out in 3 against hagler, knocked out in 3 against barkley an also lost a decision to him a couple year's later. In major fight's pac's has performed alot better. It's a fact!

    Lost twice to Leonard?:huh

Have you seen the Hagler fight? There was more action in those three rounds than you see in a 12-Rounder nowadays. Who are you kidding?

And that KO of Duran was nothing to take lightly. He completely outclassed Duran. Styles make fights, and no version of Duran comes close to Hearns. But I think Duran beats Pac with 7 out of 10

Why are some of you fools talking about it as though we are rating two fighters from the same division?

Hearns is in my top 40
Pac is in my top 30

its a reasonable debate for either to be ahead of the other.

Pac is being overrated now. Hearns would have beaten Oscar and Hatton easily also. Marquez would have been no problem for Hearns. Hearns beat Cueves who was a better fighter than Marquez and had 10 title defenses. Benitez and Duran and Leonard and Hagler and Hill. Where are these guys on Pacmans list?

Had there been a Flyweight/Bantamweight champ that had a decent run past 126 division?

Not A fair poll. Pacquiao is still fighting. Wait and see how his career ends up.

People were making the same comparisons between Trinidad and Hearns after the Joppy fight. Nobody would make that comparison now. Relax.

You forgot Hearns win over Cueves for the WBA welterweight title in 1980- Cueves had 11 title defenses at Welterweight and his win over Hill 11 years later in 1991 for the WBA Light heavyweight title. Hill was undefeated and had 10 title defenses. Hearns career is overlooked because he lost to Leonard and Hagler. It happens, but Tommy Hearns wins are more impressive than most fighters including Pacman.

Hearns was far bigger than Pacquiao, of course he was beat Pac's opponents. That's like me saying... Roy Jones Jr. would've smoked all of Willie Pep's opponents, he must be a better fighter.

Stop mentioning Leonard and Hagler. He got stopped.

Benitez was a great close win, much like the Marquez win for Pac. Cuevas was a great fighter, but Pacquiao has several wins that a better IMO. Hill? Yeah a good win, particuarly at that stage of his career, but Hill wasn't anything special in my eyes.

And again... Duran was past it, blown up, and had a disgusting size disadvantage. :good

Hehe... especially when you said future it was clear that what you REALLY said was "Hearns is American, Pac is not".

    Wasn't it? :hey
