Hey I like pacman, but when overrating happens then I sort of step back and say hold on now I have to defend objectivity. Donald Curry once was going to stop Hagler and a few months later Honeyghan stopped him. Pacman had a good career, but he got many guys at the end of their career as far as Morales and Barrera. I already said Marquez is a bit overrated and beaten by Johns. Pacman beating Diaz at lightweight is not a great win. Oscar was depleted and Hatton was good but not at all in the elite league. Now look at Hearns and you see a guy who beat Cuevez who had the title since 1976 and had 11 title defenses. Hill 10 title defenses at light heavy and undefeated Benitez, Duran. Hearns did things which no one ever did either and that was way before anyone did them. Pac is being overrated now. He is a good fighter and maybe great someday, but overrating him now and saying he is as good as Hearns is a little premature still. Let him beat Floyd when Floyd is sharp. Let him beat a sharp Cotto. Mosley.. Does anyone really think Mosley will go down in round 2 the way Hatton did?

name me a flyweight/bantam champ than had success past 126...what pacquiao is doing had never been done before

what duran did in being 135 champion and doing well at 160 had been done before by armstrong

what hearns done had been done before by walker, leonard and langford

Who was the first welterweight to win the lightheavyweight title? And do it two times? Who was the first man to win titles in 4 and then 5 divisions. Who was the first lightheavyweight to win a title and then go back down and win the middleweight title? First Junior Middleweight to win a light heavyweight title? Hearns then moved back up and beat an undefeated champion with 10 title defenses 5 years younger than him? What Pac is doing is helped by the fact we are in a weak time in boxing. Boxing is not at all what it was in the 1980s when you had better champions. You really think Pacman could have moved up with Chavez at lightweight? Hatton is not a great fighter. I liked Ricky and he was good for his style, but not great. Pacman won his first title at 112. He fights now about 30 pounds above. If you want to talk about weight then, Hearns fought highest and did win the WBU and IBO titles at 190, so he won the title weighing 45 pounds above welt. So that would still be like Pac weighing in almost as a middleweight. Pacman is good but this overrating thing is what people are going overboard about.

Based on accomplishments, Manny Pacquiao. Based on being able to kick ass, Hitman hearns. I thought it the TS meant Hatton. Pac and Hatton shouldn't be in the same sentence.

nobody recognize WBU and IBO..that is not a legit belt
walker and langford had success from 147 to 175...that had been done before. But to have success from 112-140 has never been heard before

What belt did Pacman just win from Hatton? Welt to Lightheavyweight was never heard of also. I admit Pac is a good fighter, but if you think he is better than Hearns who beat legends well then who knows. I think a win over Hill in 1991 was better than a win over Delahoya now for Pacman.

It was a good win no doubt about it, but Oscar has been beaten by Tito,Mosley,Hopkins,Mayweather (and looked not so good against Sturm) and now Pacman. Except for Mayorga, he has not been fighting too well. Oscar had 4 losses in his last 7 fights. And Hatton was made for Pacman. I like Pacman but when it gets to overrating then you have to be honest and say ok did Hatton really stand a chance? If that win against Oscar puts Pacman in the fighter of the year award that is fine. Yeah probably would. Who else would get it? This year would be a much tougher year to get FOTY award since we have had such great fights and wins. Pacman is good but if you break down his wins, the guys he fought his last 3 fights have not been guys with great winning records or great fighters. Good wins but not wins to put him over Hearns. Good wins yes. But look at Hearns record. Even Tommy's fights between his superfights were top fighters. That is why when Hearns fought Ray in the rematch it showed how the experience of fighting the full 1980's gave Tommy and experience edge over Ray. Not many guys could do that. Tommy did.

anyone notice how Hearns is now even with Pac when he was not before? Seems like people who know boxing are finally voting in this poll.

First of all, Barkley does not "kill" names like Barrera, Morales, Marquez, or DeLaHoya. If anything they were all at least a class above him.

Secondly, Duran was not considered "at the top of his game" when he fought Hearns, nor were Leonard and Barkley in their rematches.

Third, Hearns was officially only 2-4-1 against them (compared to Pacquiao's 6-1-1 against the four listed above). How is that an argument in his favor?
