i have no problem with people picking against manny in actual fights. in fact i love it when pac is the underdog because i knew pac can prove it himself that these people are wrong. what i detest is how bill will just write off pac in a fantasy matchup, that will never happen in the first place, and it seems like the most likely outcome in his opinion is pac will be ko'ed.

I don't understand why Pacquiao fans get so offended when their man isn't being favored in fantasy match-ups.

Nearly every great fighter of the modern era is subjected to these fantasy match-ups, and the old timers are sometimes picked because of nostalgia and sentimental reasons, but any intelligent boxing fan has to pick Arguello at 130lb. Manny hadn't even fully developed as a Super Featherweight, whereas Alexis was knocking everybody out at that weight. It's also note worthy that both Marquez and Arguello are similiar in their style and how they deliver their punches. If Marquez takes Manny to a SD, I think Alexis goes one better.

i also favor arguello at 130 but to say that he will be ko'ed is some sort of disrespect to pac who is a much greater fighter than all the great 130 champs that arguello fought. with bill, it seems like almost all of them will ko pac not thinking that pac is too great and to proud to be ko'ed. he is severely underrating pac's heart and reselience bigtime.

Agreed, its a dangerous combination putting the most accurate puncher in the sport (counter-puncher at that) in there with the most aggressive attacking force in boxing who despite defensive improvements still takes clean punches vs the elite.
Id personally go with a UD before a TKO/KO but I certainly would not be shocked if FMJ broke Pac down after outclassing him, Mayweather has pop but its the accumulation that is the real key.

Manny Pacquiao is a great fighter, and more than likely he would put up a good fight with Alexis at 130lb. However, Arguello delivers punches arguably even better than Dinamita does, as crazy as that sounds, and he hits a lot harder also. I only see this ending one way.

There is currently a misconception that Manny Pacquiao is an elusive target. Marquez found the target effectively enough to make the decision in their second fight disputable, and Mayweather is bigger than Marquez and arguably even more accurate. Mayweather has some very good offensive skills when he lets his hands go.

Let me throw some names out to you that have been pitted against Pacquiao in mythical fights, threads NOT made by me..... Duran, Chavez, Mayweather, Armstrong, Pryor, prime DLH, prime Tito, prime Mosely....

You SERIOUSLY think picking all of those guys vs Pacquiao is underrating Pacquiao ? :huh

    Wake the **** up !

I will admit, my knowledge on Chavez isn't what it should be, and I once picked Pacquiao to decision him. Some fools were picking Manny to stop Chavez. :-( Nobody stops peak Chavez at 135lb or 140lb. Nobody.

Then I saw this video and realized I was underestimating Chavez as a fighter.

    Unbelievable display of combination punching.

True, Floyd is flat out better than Marquez IMHO & I watched with my own eyes JMM beat Pac 7-4-1 in their 2nd fight.
Of course, styles make fights & Floyd is all wrong for Pac + a better boxer, some pac****s are gonna be broken hearted if this fight ever comes off but if Pac wins, I`ll be one of the 1st to give him his props & adfmit I was wrong big time, no worries about that.

Yes, Ive seen that vid before, really does show off JCCs combination punching & accuracy.

The greatest Mexican fighter bar none & IMO a top 10 all time fighter, he would batter Pac in a H2H IMO, just too tough & technically sound.

    :good

pac is an ATG and the best if this decade. pac has a good chance against floyd, oscar and mosley at 135. to say that pac would just lay in front of them and be ko'ed seriously question how you rate pac.

Puga you are wasting your time trying to convince these hardcore Pac haters that Pacquiao is better than they think

I won't "find a way to disagree", I don't have to find or look for a way to disagree, I simply think you both simultaneously underrate Pacquiao and overrate Mayweather. The only way we will find out who is right is if/when they fight.

Because Floyd is slick and cool and has a zero, he is the conventional notion of skill, and therefore you two guys think he is better than he really is. In fact, you don't think he's better than he is, that's not strictly correct, you think he is still the fighter he was at 130 - which he most certainly isn't.

Conversely, you think Pacquiao is still the same raw, one-dimensional, easy-to-hit firebrand he was 2003-2005 - which he most certainly isn't.

But as I say, we'll need to wait till they fight to see who is right.

In all fairness SK, you would think Michael Jennings was a bad match-up for Manny. You tip anyone and everyone to be able to beat him.

I haven't noticed anyone saying Pacquiao is greater purely because he made shorter work of Hatton. Much like your Duran complex, I think you are largely fabricating this in your own mind.

But Floyd hasn't stopped any natural welterweights, so why would Pacquiao need to have a better chin than them to avoid being KO'd by Floyd?

    We'll see.
