Some do but I have no reason to doubt what Froch said. Froch stopped Groves x 2 and he stopped Reid too. If he wanted to lie he could've said Kessler hit him harder, Bute, Abraham, Pascal, Johnson etc. so why pick Reid and why would Tony Dodson also say Reid was the hardest puncher he shared a ring with and that he hit harder than Froch who was also a big puncher himself? And Reid did crack Froch with big shots Reid, Froch and Groves were all big punchers We can clearly see and hear how heavy Reid's shots were by the loud thud they landed with and how the force of some of them twisted Joe's neck and head around and we can clearly see in both videos I posted and the many many other fights of his that he had an excellent chin and it's not even remotely debatable because we have an abundance of irrefutable proof in the video footage I posted HLs of and that was just 2 fights both of which against big punchers and he fought many more and went to war with many of them which is also obviously on video too
Calzaghe would beat everyone Crawford beat if he was the same size as them, let alone if he was much or bigger than many of them like Crawford often was with a huge or big reach advantage. I don't care how many divisions Crawford moved up he was a massive weight bully, turned pro way younger than Calzaghe, and he was the same size as his opponents even at 154 and 168. And Joe would do it whilst training out of dilapidated shed which didn't even have a proper boxing ring just 4 posts, some ropes and a carpeted floor with holes in it, with a father trainer who had zero boxing experience and zero training experience, and with a pair of hands which were so badly damaged long before he turned pro a specialist informed him he wouldn't even be able to do so. This is what Crawford looked like on the scales for his 168 DEBUT. He looks as lean as a starving greyhound on crack for goodness sake This content is protected The scary thing is I bet there are people out there who actually genuinely believe or will try and convince themselves Calzaghe wouldn't beat everyone Crawford beat
We're going to have agree to disagree. I take what Froch says with a pinch of salt have you seen his YT ? Reid was no longer world class when Froch fought him the fight was totally one sided and none of Reid's punches bothered him. I'm not saying Reid didn't have power I'm saying when Froch fought him he wasn't the same fighter. Again I also don't hold the same opinion about Reid's power as he didn't really make that much of an impression at world level in terms of stopping any notable opponents. I'm not saying Reid couldn't hit but there's been plenty of Super Middleweights who hit harder. I'm also not saying Calzaghe didn't have a good chin but sometimes he did get hit flush too much by squaring up and getting too aggressive. Which makes for exciting fights but it also shows Calzaghe could have some defensive lapses.
Fair enough but Froch isn't the only one who said Reid is the hardest puncher they shared a ring with and Froch's recounting of what he thought and felt after being hit by Reid is too specific. Here's Brian Magee also praising Reid's power Who is the hardest puncher you faced? "There were so many that hit hard like Carl Froch, Robin Reid etc but when I qualified for the 1996 olympics I had to box the Romanian champion in European I can't remember his name. He was one tough guy, the body shots made made me sore after that fight" Many of the shots Reid landed on Calzaghe were clearly much harder than the ones Joe got dropped with by Roy and B-Hop as were many of the ones he ate from Eubank and in many of his other fights too but they didn't drop him. Froch was 36 when he fought Groves and it was in round 1 when Froch might have been cold. I've never argued Reid was the same fighter when he fought Froch, DP. I know he wasn't but I also know power doesn't generally just disappear and he could still crack at 36 just like Froch and countless others could If we want examples of a fighter's power disappearing we just have to look at Calzaghe who was a big puncher in the amateurs and as a pro before his hands became so brittle he couldn't sit down on his shots like he used to Here he is at 19 y/o long before he turned pro saying that he ''hopes his hands get better so he can turn pro and be good at it'' He actually expresses his concern for his hands twice in the video Timestamped This content is protected I'm not saying Calzaghe had a good chin either. I'm saying he had an excellent one and yes you are correct he did have defensive lapses but there are reasons why that is not because of a lack of skill
I hope that you guys have had a great Christmas. There’s no need for any in-depth analysis on Robin Reid. Robin Reid was a very good fighter. I merely mentioned him, as we had some ignorant and sarcastic comments that Crawford could barely beat Madramov, where because of it, people were questioning his worth. That’s why I replied with Joe’s struggles with Reid, to prove that even Joe sometimes struggled with non great fighters. I was just trying to prove a point. I have no issue if anyone believes that Reid was a better opponent than Madramov. I think this is actually a very good debate. This is my criteria, and how I see things: Ability - Terence Overall resume/wins - Joe Accomplishments - Terence Longevity - Terence I believe that Terence was more skilful. He was better technically. He can smoothly transition from orthodox to southpaw. I believe that Joe has the better resume slightly, especially as I personally believe that Khan and Kell were done, and there’s huge question marks on the condition of Spence. Both of them have poor resumes for such great fighters, but Terence was more ambitious. The Boots fight hurts him though, and Joe should have moved up to LHW earlier. Officially, obviously Terence has accomplished more. But then you have to apply context and look at who he beat. In terms of longevity, Terence is still fighting at an older age than Joe, but he’s had slightly fewer fights, and he’s fought over a shorter period. So it’s honestly very close. It depends what you value more. I’m undecided to be honest. But if Terence could put together another couple of valuable wins, I’d have to give him the edge.
Come on. They were from a low level belt. About a dozen of them were literally against non world level guys. There’s no defending that.
