I have Mayweather ahead of Hearns. Mayweather was the best fighter of his generation. Style points dont count. Results do.

Hearns fought in a more dangerous era and he was one of the best of his time. He did have some flaws that cost him fights.

Even though he never faced Mike McCallum as a LMW?

Or Christopher Tiozzo as a SMW?

No one is beyond criticism in terms of who they failed to fight.

True, certainly Mayweather is a more deserved target for his duckings, caveats against his supposed ATG victories, and deluded 'TBE' view of himself though.

    Top 20 comparison
    1. Benitez>Corrales, I guess, for prime v. prime matchups. It's close.
    2. Canelo>Hill for old guy moving up in weight matches.
    3. Pac>Cuevas, for short guys with 147 championships. Remember that Floyd was 38 and Pac was pfp 2 behind Floyd.
    4. Castillo 135 II>Old Duran at 154
    5. Aging Oscar, jump to 154>Draw with aging Leonard
    6. Castillo 1>Olajide
    7. Cotto>Roldan
    8. Hatton>Andries
    9. Mosley>Shuler
    10. Marquez>Kinchen
    11. Judah>DeWitt
    12. Genaro>Bruce Curry
    13. Maidana I>Weston
    14. Maidana II> Sutherland
    15. Ortiz>Nate Miller
    16. Gurerro>?
    17. Baldomir>?
    18. Jesus Chavez>?
    19. Gatti>?
    20. Corley>?

19-1 in Maywether's favor without the terrible loses to Barkley and manhandling by Hagler.
    @lufcrazy you're sure it's that close?

Edit: A case could be made for 20-0 if you swapped Canelo and Corrales' places.

Hill was a better win than Canelo. Hill had 10 title defenses and it was at his weight and when he had experience, and Canelo was inexperience and made weaker. That is almost shows why Hearns is greater. He fought guys at their weights. No games.. Cuevas was champion for 11 defenses I think and Manny was tougher? I don't think so. . And Floyd waited years to fight Manny. I think Shields was up there over Castillo. Only now people might think he was not. Duran was a champion at 154 when Hearns fought him. Hatton over Andries? Debatable. Hatton had the win over Tzyzu, but Andries was underated and had wins over Sibson, Williamson, Czyz and Harding and was I think a 3 time champion. Even Crawford Ashley was good and Andries beat him.. The fight with Ray was much tougher than Oscar was to Floyd at that point. You forgot Nate Miller, Mark Medal (who was the champ once and probably better than Gatti as far as head to head) Geraldo and Singletary.

Hearns is more iconic and that means more to me, besides I think he resume is much better. You cannot handpick guys and match Tommy.

This is the same with everyone though.

Hearns best victories include a shot Cuevas and a faded Benitez and Duran who are miles north of their best weight.

Most of the people he beat for belts were no hopers.

Everyone can have their resume torn apart.

Hearns beat Benitez, Hill and should have got the decision in the rematch against Leonard. Very impressive performances.

Mayweather's resume is overrated. For example, Mayweather's win over Pac should have been ruled a NC due to the IV. A lot of his other notable wins came against boxers who were past their best.

The only Mayweather win that really impressed me was his win over JMM. But even that wasn't as impressive as Hearns' win over Benitez.

No to all of this. Canelo is easily a better win than Hill. Mayweather was 36 and giving up a ton of weight in his fifth weightclass. Hearns was in his early 30s. Canelo is so far ahead Hill at this point that I shouldn't even have to say it. Canelo's wins at 155 and below (edit) alone are better than Hill's best wins. Don't make arguments like it's still 2012. Maywether has the better resume objectively. Deal with it.

Correction: Alvarez’s resume at 155 and below is better than Hill’s 175 resume.

That’s all for you and Sweetpea since I’ve long regarded you two as crackpots.

The Canelo which Mayweather fought is not close to Virgil Hill whom Tommy fought. Not even close.. The weight issues and everything else..
