look at the records of ortiz and canzoneri at 140 please...im not bias towards KT, in fact i favor mayweather and pacquiao to beat him at 140.. we have trinidad, mccallum, hearns, griffith ahead of wright...wright is in equal footing with dela hoya, norris and benitez at 154...what im trying to say is wright is not a clear top 5 at 154, where as i have KT at number 4-5th at the very least at 140
Ortiz has a good record at 140 he beat Loi who is better than anyone KT has ever fought and he beat good solid contenders like Busso,Lane,Ortega etc and he had a draw with Loche in Argentina, wich means he probably won that fight. and you have DLH at the same level as wright when is only good win there is Vargas, the same with Tito who only fought there three times. basically they both rank about the same in theyre best division but Wright moved up and beat some good fighters(Tito,Quartey,Taylor arguably) and was also able to compete with others (Hopkins) in a weight he had no business fighting in,all of that and him having better wins than KT puts him ahead for me,although its close.
for me, dela hoya and trinidad are much better skilled than wright at 154...yes indeed, wright moved up in weight that's why they are very very close in my books...had wright not moved up, i would not make this poll. either way you can make a case on who should be ranked higher depending on your criteria.. my main point here is tszyu would be remembered because he is a clear top 5 140 pounder. he may not be their for long but as long as he still sits in the top 5 he would be timeless..all other things(accomplishment, skill) they are almost equal..
im very impressed with their wins over vargas...it's just me...im sre tito is better 154 fighter than winky...you can make a case for wright-dela hoya
simply put, i would say that trinidad's win over vargas is just equal to the two wins of wright against mosley
Well Wright arguably beat Vargas too. and Tito was clueless when he was faced with smart boxers with good defense i see a fight between him and Wright at 154 going the same way it did at 160 but this time Tito probably wins a couple of rounds. as for DLH when did he ever look good against a smart boxer?everytime he faced one he lost and the same would happen against Wright who not only is a better boxer than him hes also much stronger.
dont agree ,Mosley is a better fighter than Vargas even at 154 and you can also say that Wright beat Vargas too,or at least deserved a draw and i believe that has he given Winky a rematch that Winky wouldve clearly beat him the second time around.
Tito was a big puncher and Vargas had a weak chin so Vargas would always be one punch away of being KTFO,while a fight between Wright and Vargas would probably always go to a decision. thats just a matter of styles and i think that Winkys style would always beat Tito.
no point of arguing..i just feel tito is a better fighter while to feel that wright would beat trinidad..if you feel wright can beat trinidad, then by all means, wright should be inside top 100. Because trinidad is locked in the top 80 so wright can't be outside top 100 if you include overall ability in the criteria which should definetely be part of any criteria of ATG
Wright, easy.Better boxer, better opposition, never been stopped or quit.If Ronald were naturally 140 instead of 154,does anyone out there believe Vince Phillips would've stopped him or he would have quit against Hatton? No way on this planet.
Knocking out a prime Vargas at 154 is a better win then outpointing Mosley.... At that point Shane had had one win at the weight and it was the biggest gift of that year. That version of Fernando would have beaten Shane for reference. Losing to Phillips is almost comparable to Wright getting dropped 3 or 4 times in losing to Vasquez...Now Vasquez is a slightly better and more accomplished fighter but Vince was a pretty talented guy who destroyed himself on the crackpipe...I think the fact he was able to still be a ranked contender when he was clean and pushing 40 supports this. If you want to give Wright the close decisions that quite a few thought he deserved, then there is no contest..But I have to say none of them were conclusive enough to say he was out and out robbed, except maybe the Taylor fight which still gets debated probably enough to warrant some doubt. I thought he beat Vargas, but not by heaps..not as much as some make out. I never scored the Simon bout but I felt it was pretty close.
Ask anybody who they would rather had beat. Tito or Sharmba nobody even knows sharmba. They have Bronze Satues of tito in rico.
