How would some of the ATGs have done at other sports? Ali? Football maybe? QB? WR? Half back? Liston? Football? Lineman? Marciano? I think boxing was it for him. Baseball might be outside of the realm of speculation. We don't know how a person could hit or throw unless he's done it. Marciano had tried baseball and failed.
In Britain we have had a few Rugby players and Footballers try their hand at boxing; ex Footballer Curtis Woodhouse, a fair domestic talent, being a current example. So this would suggest some of the big men might of been able to make it in Rugby, and some of the smaller ones in Football.
He tried out for a pro team and was cut after 10 days or so. He could hit, but he was too slow at everything else.
Carnera was a very good wrestler, Marciano was a baseball catcher and a very good one from what I remember, I believe I read he had an offer from a minor league team... I'm sure others know much more...
Marciano had a tryout with a Chicago Cubs farm team in 1947. He was cut after a couple of weeks. He was a good hitter but he was slow and couldn't throw.
I don't really know for Ali. Ken Norton i'd say for Football he was a great runner. Liston probably lineman sounds perfect.
Ice Hockey? From my understanding they're allowed to go at it on the ice so if you had a boxer on your team you'd just send him out to take out the other teams best guy then sub on one of your good players for him. Right?
holyfield beat carl lewis (past prime) in a sprint. had some talent there if lifting cows is a sport well big george could do that martinez is pretty outstanding as a cyclist and soccer player amir khan seems like a perfect sprinter: fast out of the gate and then gets knocked the ****ed out by a left hook
If we are talking 'Superstars'; no he did not, he beat him at 800 meters, which is the shortest 'middle distance' race. Still a very impressive achievement...
