one of the dilemma's it seems in floyd's career has been the lack of ATG fighters to challenge him. When floyd campaigned at the lower weights I can think of no fighter truly recognized as an ATG. while genaro, corrales, and castillo are HOF caliber fighters making a case of ATG status for anyone of them would be difficult to say the least. As floyd has moved higher to face legitimate threats the same dilemma presents itself. Both oscar and mosley I would consider ATG's but some say they are not and they are aging and not in their prime anymore. Hatton and cotto are in the corrales, castillo, genaro bracket of greatness HOF worthy but not ATG. will this hurt his All-time standing or is beating HOF caliber fighters good enough to ensure his standing as p4p one of the best that ever laced them up:deal
No Durans, Leonards, Hearnses and Haglers for him so that puts him at a disadvantage. Hatton, Cotto and Mosley are the closest beings to those greats though. All first-ballot hoffers no doubt but I would really question their ATG status.
Mayweather is still an ATG despite beating only one potential all time great in Oscar De La Hoya. The titles in numerous weight classes plus the fact that he is 38-0 are great accomplishments and there is no denying he is an unbelievable fighter. He could retire as an ATG, but most people would not view him with the Leonard's, Duran's, Whitaker's, and Hagler's etc... However, if he beats Hatton, Mosley, Williams, and Cotto, his legacy would sky rocket and no doubt fans would view him as one of the best ever.
good post, I think people will view his victories over hatton and the mosley/cotto favorably if they go on to keep winning. if floyd beats them and they don't accomplish much in their careers then he won't get much credit.

Floyd on the other hand, cherry picks, talks ****, and makes excuses. That doesnt get it done. He does however have the chance to CHANGE the routine at 147. If he doesnt?? Basically it is just up to Floyd to beat everyone he can, the toughest names. He can't force others to be All-Time Greats, so he can't worry about that. Beating Hatton and then the Cotto/Mosley winner would be huge.
Floyd won the fight by 4 round's you ****in hater. The split decision was only because it was Oscar De La Hoya so you know one judge would go with him. De La Hoya would K.O. Spinks.

According to many observers and posters here he is. When I ask how is he not and according to whom, you will come up with a similar answer. Somehow you will feel that your answer is valid and the other is not. Besides, you rate Maskaev P4P along with Ibragimov. That just makes you impossible to take seriously.
It's both, actually. Most objective observers wouldn't dispute that Floyd is an all-time great. He continues to write his legacy with fights like the one he has coming in December. If you want specifics - which I don't think you did since it's apparent you simply hate Floyd and don't care about facts - read the threads regarding Floyd's legacy. I've been in many of them, and you'll find they're very detailed. I don't know, maybe you just don't like the tone of his skin, based on your list of top fighters.
