I have never considered AK to be a potential ATG but he can still be a world champ. Alexis Arguello and Joe Louis and other can give him plenty of hope

who else amongst the ATG's has suffered an early career KO defeat?

Henry Armstrong was knocked out in his first fight.

Greb was stopped in his seventh fight. Lost something like three of his first six, too.

Dempsey was knocked out a few years into his career as well.

Tiger Flowers was stopped a lot early in his career as well.

Eusebio Pedroza was ko'ed by Alfonso Zamora early on in his career.

Although not a great, Jose Luis Ramirez suffered a KO early on in his career to a pretty much done Ruben Olivares.

Also not a great, but Frankie Randall got KOed by Primo Ramos fairly early on in his career.

Joe Louis? His first defeat wasn't early it was to Schmeling, a top 20 ATG heavyweight in his 24th fight. That's not 'early'.

Khan's defeat isn't what I'd call early. He's been pro for 3 years and had 18 fights. He should be at a reasoably good level now.

I think we're talking about devastating losses to so-so fighters.

    Wasn't Hop's loss a 4 rounder, anyway?

Mickey Walker. Max Schmeling. Jack Johnson. I would think there were quite a few in the old days.

The difference is Khan is being matched against low level opposition and being floored and KO'd. Imagine what Nate Campbell or Michael Katsidis would have done to him.

If I'm remembering right, the great Alexis Arguello got knocked out in his pro debut.
