ATGs Tribute Thread. Pt 7 Zsolt Erdei

Zsolt Erdei should be appreciated more than he is, in my opinion.
    Read on....

    1. It was only in his 13th fight that Erdei won the WBO Inter-Continental light heavy weight title against John Murray who had a formidable record of 24-11-2.

    2. It was only in his 19th fight that Erdei won the WBO light heavyweight title against Julio Cesar Gonzalez.

    3. Look at his title run. 11 defences of his WBO title including two thrilling fights with Hugo Herman Garay. Then moving up in weight to defeat ATG Fragomeni for the WBC CW title.

Impressively, Erdei is still undefeated at age 37 with a record of 33-0 with 18 knockouts.

Hugo Herman Garay is commonly referred to as the Argentinian Sugar Ray Robinson. Either that or the Argentinian Hugo Boss. He is boss. Should be the next ATG thread recipient IMO. :deal

The other thing with Erdei early on was that the guy was a sparring partner for Michalczewski. That's a tough job and surviving that gives him an advanced education in boxing. And he's used it since and does not fight stupid in there.

You can laugh all you want, but Erdei is the best technician in lhw just after Bernard Hopkins. He's really underrated cuz of his lack of abroad fights.

Not a bad attempt you deeply hidden alt whos to afraid to reveal who you are but here, add these full facts

Zsolt Erdei is another who deserves more repsct and credit, hes an undefeated former 2 weight world champ that had a better LHW resume than Dawson who was a recent P4Per. Completely off subject but read below. You may see where I am coming from

    Erdei beat

    .

Think Dawson hasnt beaten a fighter rated above #2 by the Ring as Hopkins hogged the #1 spot for ages, and Erdei has a win over a fighter that beat Johnson, who nearly beat Dawson and that was Dawsons big win.

Santiago who Erdei beat is now having another title shot and lets remember how Erdei has just easily beaten Americas best SMW of the decade B Mitchell :good

We should also note how Hopkins will avoid Erdei, as Hopkins has a style weakness to fast 2 handed fighters his own size, as results show ie Jones, Taylor twice, Calzaghe and Pascal 1. So as you can see Hopkins will want no part of Erdei.

    Enjoy :good

Eh, I'd rate Campillo better than Erdei, personally.

If someone wants to find the other Erdei thread from yesterday, my full thoughts are there. Underrated, maybe, ATG, not a chance. Top 5 LHW for about a decade which is a solid accomplishment, but he wasn't exactly facing murderer's row.

Erdie was a fighter who had the skill to go really far... but he messed up. or his management did. i thought he was going to be the one to clear out the lightheavy division and prove just what he could do.. but it wasn't to be. erdie and his team spent far too much time ****ing about. they should of been calling out the best the division had to offer, and trying to make the big fights happen... but they didn't do that. they were happy to waste his best years fighting mediocre opponents.

don't get me wrong, he's beaten some very good fighters as a pro.. but it's not good enough. there's no big names there...

    wheres glen jhonson?

    wheres chad dawson?

    wheres joe calzaghe?

    wheres antonio tarver? etc etc...

these are the fights that would of got peoples attention. got him the recognition. they would of allowed him to prove his worth on the world stage and shown us just how good he really was.... but he didn't do that.

very good fighter... could of been great, but he wasted his time. nothing he can do about it now. maybe he's happy to take on former supermiddles that are shot. maybe he's happy to fight down on the undercard and not get shown on the tv... if thats what he wants.. then he's welcome to it.

he just could of been so much more...
