my guess is that it didn't go so well. i love teddy (and am apparently alone on esb in that ) but i think he's seen some huge flaws in povetkin and realizes, probably correctly, that wlad will destroy him and derail career just like he did against sooooo many others

For whatever it is worth, somebody posted a youtube clip of an exhibition fight with Povetkin with Teddy Atlas sitting in a private audience. It was months ago. Don't know if it is the same fight, but someone posted it here on ESB and I remember wathcing it.

It only took him 4 rounds to dispatch of the retired forty-something Bruce Selden.

This victory should set him up nicely for a rematch with Leo Nolan ...

Apparently beating Eddie Chambers and Chris Byrd wasn't "street" enough for Atlas' tastes, so he's giving Povetkin a crash course.

Thankfully he's not advising Wlad, otherwise Wlad would be vacating the titles so he could have exhibition matches with Pinklon Thomas.

 

Yeah, he really has taken this kid from hot prospect to also-ran pretty quick.

 

He could exume Lenny Mclean's corpse for Povetkin's next "smoker" bout.
