Floyd is the only 140-147 boxer I would pick against Garcia. Garcia is very good but Floyd is great.

Mayweather is clearly head and shoulders above anyone currently fighting south of 160 and a lot of people, including myself, would like to see him really tested against someone who has a good shot at beating him. Being that there's nobody better, the only way for that to happen is if he faces someone much bigger.

I disagree with Teddy here, though. The problem with Garcia isn't that he's too small... It's that he's just not good enough to give Mayweather a tough fight.

the bigger they are the harder they fall, well they won't fall because little floyd can't knock em down but he will be lighter, quicker and stick and get the hell out of dodge so fast he will make em all look bad. i actually think someone in shape at 147 might give him a better fight than the bigger guys. mayweather will still own them, i think the most competitive fight (depending on how he looks against rios) would be may vs pac at 147.

if they were both 210 lbs, as far as the scales are concerned, then yes they were. that was kind of a stupid comment. but i understand what youre trying to say. holyfield was a heavyweight duran from the lower weights, i get it. totally differnt though. duran wouldve been fat at 210 while holyfield wouldnt you can tell that by their frames, height, etc. garcia and floyd are similar height and frames though. so that makes your comment moot. 2 guys similar height and frame, 1 weighs 150, 1 weighs 160, who's bigger. get my meaning. and i wasnt the one who said he was bigger by the way. just that its not far fetched that he was. before Victor Ortiz fought Berto he was also a 140lb fighter, Floyd had been fighting 147 for years, and had even fought 154 against De La Hoya, when Ortiz and Floyd fought though Ortiz was obviously bigger guy. You should think before you comment.

    yeah umm i get that
it just gets old everyone saying floyd is the smaller guy like hes some kind of straw weight.... people on these boards were even saying JMM was the bigger guy just being 2 years removed from over 50 fights at FEATHERWEIGHT
    - jumping from 135 past 140 and to 147 and making his welterweight debut vs floyd.
    - 50 fights at 126
    - a hand full at 130
    - 2 fights at 135.
    - NONE at 140
    - NONE at 147
but Floyd is the smaller guy. :rofl

He's not always the smaller guy, youre right. he was bigger against JMM, and though Hatton typically walked around 20lbs heavier than him, on that night Floyd was definitely bigger. He would be the bigger guy if he ever fought Pac too. I think it is a definite possibility that if he fought Garcia, Garcia might just walk in the ring a tad bit bigger, but it wouldnt necessarily mean he would be comfortable at the weight.

I think Garcia should fight 147 once or twice before even considering a fight with Floyd. But would you rather see Garcia or Khan?!

agree with that assessment. i'm used to dealing with dumb asses on here, apparently you are not one of them.
I would rather see Garcia against him , but like you said, at the same time he needs a fight or two at 147.
I dont think the Khan is a terrible fight, i think he would be up for this and it would be much tougher than anyone is saying....

Even though i doubt it could happen because Alexander is with HBO, I wouldnt mind seeing Garcia vs Alexander.

And I do see Khans speed possibly causing for some early on close rounds. Khans chin just too suspect though. and while Floyd is not a puncher, as every fighter that is in against him says. he hits harder than i thought. couple that with Khans chin and Floyds accuracy, late KO for Floyd is the only logical answer for that fight. Also i dont think Khan deserves that fight.

It's part of the Floyd mythos that he's considerably smaller then all of his opponents.

By no stretch of the imagination is he a big WW, but I think - really, just by looking at him - that he's grown comfortably into that class.

Sure, he doesn't pack on 15lbs overnight, but he also probably couldn't make 140 at this point, at least not without detriment to his performance.

The Ghost had at least come in off a winning streak, had a WW belt, and 2 wins at WW. Khan is 2-2 in last 4 fights, and has never fought the weight.

Golovkin has zero shot at getting a fight with Mayweather anytime soon, if ever.
