Teddy Atlas said somewhere that he my not train Povetkin because--get this---he can't skip Friday Night Fight commitment ! As if they would not let him go train Povetkin. Sounds like he is screwing them around, he also said Povetkins people are at fault, because they should have scheduled fight when he was not doing show. I wonder if he wants more money, or knows he is about to be dropped for another trainer? It makes no sense to say he can't skip FNF to train guy for title shot. This is going to get interesting, in bad way. atsch
I think teddy was willing to train Povetkin in the US, so he can do both FNF's and Train Povetkin for a fake title.
He'd be in big trouble if ESPN fired him now--he'd have no excuse to get out of this fight:yep He's big time **** head to pull this stunt, but I already knew that. He's ****ing Povetkin, the management, the promoter. Hurts sport too, he did worse puling Povetkin out of Klit fight though. This is just vindictive of him.
Atlas wants to destroy Povetkin's career, that is the only reason he was training him. Steward trains Vlad, yet he has commitment with HBO. Atlas just hates Euro fighters, but Povetkin is not the only fighter Atlas has destroyed....................
Atlas is just hiding behind his ESPN contract as a way out now that he's ran Povetkin into the ground, and he's on bad terms with Sauerland. This was a joke to begin with, Pov doesn't speak English, Atlas doesn't speak Russian....there was a disconnect in the corner during fights. He wanted to completely change his style, a style that won him a gold medal and plow his way thru to a title shot in under 20 pro fights. I guess he's not too sure that Sasha can beat Chagaev, and doesn't want to take the rap for it....but we all know better. Atlas is a legend in his own mind, the man can't even predict a winner like 95% of the time.
He's cunning, not ******ed. Also a scum bag. He'll spin story to make self some sort of hero. He'll say he did it to: Save sport;save the fighter; save ESPN; or some **** like that. I'm waiting to see what Povetkins people say now. Maybe they already planned to fire him? If they didn't, he really ****ed them over. First pulls him out of big money bout and chance at title with Vlad, now this stunt. Whatever, he will have an excuse that makes him sound noble. He always does.
Everyone has an excuse whether it makes sense or not...After pulling him out of his biggest payday ever, the fight he spent his entire life working for, and then leaving because of a commitment he knew about when he took the job, anyone who hires him is ******ed... Bad mouthing anyone he's ever worked with is not an admirable quality in an employee either...
This is not good. He ruined a fighter even before the guy got a title shot. There is no way anyone is going to want this guy to train them anymore.
Someone will be dumb enough. I said when he was hired that they were ****ing up big time, so did a few others on here. I wonder if he is looking for more money, or out of ESPN so he can go to HBO? He is making it look as if ESPN owes him for loyalty, as if they can't find anyone else to fill in for 6 shows. In interview he said that Povetkins people were wrong (of course  ) for scedulaing fight that interfered with his broadcasting:rofl He does Olympics for NBC this summer, do they wait till Atlas retires to get povetkin big fright.? I guess tomorrow on FNF he'll have quite a story, making himself martyr/victum for the fans, the sport, the fighter, his family, and the network.
