    If headcase Teddy Atlas gets with Perez & ruins him too, i'm not going to be a happy bunny. :twisted:

    There are only a handful of trainers who can prep a fighter to fight differently than he had in the past, and better himself in the process. Teddy is ONE of those guys IMO. Don't think for a second that Potvetkin and Sauerland don't know Atlas can make a good fighter, a great fighter. Of course it could work exactly the opposite if that fighter isn't fully committed to the change.
    If Pot was fully committed to becoming a different, more explosive and well rounded fighter, he'd had moved to the US or at least come here for camp.

    As for Teddy pulling Potvetkin out of the Wlad fight.....well, let's just say that was the best career move that Potvekin never made.

    And BTW, this isn't a title shot. Anymore than the Chisora/Fury fight last night.

    What in Atlas history makes you think he is one of a few who could pull that off?
    Povetkin should have fought Klitschko, he deserved shot and I would not write off any good contender so easily.

    Atlas keeping quiet about this on FNF makes me wonder if he is being held to contract with them (povetkin's people) ESPN may be hoping he leaves by now.

    Teddy is ESPN FNF. He makes the night with his god aweful commentary and his abuse of his partner Saul.

    What makes you think ESPN might want him gone? The guy is a ****ing legend.

    Yeah, Potvetkin beat Chambers by decision and KOd a spent Byrd, but those aren't exactly great credentials. Albeit, better than some.

    As for his career lately, blame Sauerland, not Teddy. Atlas would rather see him fighting the Dimitrenkos, Liakovichs and Peters of the division than the Oruhs and the Sykes of the division.

    Chitown, regarding Sauerland, I never heard a complaint or problem about the guy before this trouble with Atlas. Meanwhile Atlas has trouble with people going back to D'Amato, Dave Wolf (Who gave Teddy big break early in Teddy's career and regretted it) and al his problems with fighters, like Donny poole, Ricky Salazar (who he wrestled with at one of Moorers press conferences) and others.

    Sauerland got Povetkin to number one ranking, a promoters job. He kept him there, and got him title shot. As for pulling out Povetkin cause he would be underdog, who would be fighting for titles if all fighters were managed like that?

    Could imagine Teddy in 1952, taking over Marciano before Walcott fight, then pulling him out. "He needs a lot of work, must learn head movement, Walcott is bad matchup for him. Wrong style. Maybe in 2 years, after I teach him more"

    Joe Louis with Teddy "No rematch with Schmeling yet, Joe says he's ready, but I see mental weaknesses.."
