If GGG looks good @ 168 vs Chavez Jr then I'd like to see him staying there and fight the winner of Froch - Groves II. :good

I seriously doubt it's a tougher fight. Might be harder for GGG to score a knockout but Martinez isn't just gonna stand there and trade with GGG.

don't think Martinez has too much gas left in his tank. the fight with Cotto will give us a concrete answer.

Martinez can't even run. He gets serious pain from walking. From an article a couple of weeks back anyway...

Martinez is past it at this point. Chavez at 168 is definitely a bigger risk than Martinez at 160, especially when we don't know how GGG will perform/look at 168. It's definitely a gutsy move from GGG to pick Chavez as his first opponent at 168.

I hope he'll be able to fight Cotto. If he beats Cotto and can't get Floyd then he should retire.

don't know why some people are saying GGG vs Chavez Jr is almost a mismatch. Chavez Jr @ 168 is a very tough test for GGG IMO.

There's no way in hell this will be a mismatch, this fight is going to be tough for both. I will be genuinely shocked if this is a mismatch for either fighter.

Pretty much anybody is a tougher match than Martinez at this point. He's finished. Chavez Jr and old age ruined him.

Chavez ruined him by winning one round big?. Martinez is simply past it and has been in far too many tough fights in his career.

just because Chavez only knocked him down in the final round, doesn't mean that was the only round when Chavez was doing damage. Or are you forgetting the huge cut on Sergio's cheek he was sporting since like round 8?

Sergio got stitches on the face, staples on the head and above all, a knee surgery he hasn't fully recovered from yet, all courtesy of Chavez

He looked like Superman in that fight, and like complete crap in the following one. I've never seen a fighter declining so dramatically in the span of just one fight

Sergio won the fight but Chavez ruined him forever:deal

Chavez was definitely pressuring him and forcing him to work and throw a lot in every round but he hardly landed enough to "ruin" him. Even though it's obvious that Martinez is past it, I would rather give Murray credit for making Martinez look bad rather than fully blame it on Martinez.

I think the damage he took on his knee from the KD and subsequent surgery was what really did him in. You don't recover easily from something like that, specially not at his age

Sergio has poor defense, he uses his reflexes and footwork to avoid getting hit, if his footwork doesn't work properly then he gets tagged a lot, that's why Murray was finding him with ease.

Truth is, considering Sergio's style (and he sure as hell won't change it at this point), he probably took a career ending injury in that match so even if you disregard everything else, you can still say Chavez ruined him.

the Chavez Jr fight consumpted a lot of fuel from old Sergio's tank.

2010 Martinez vs nowadays GGG would be a very competitive fight.
