I'll start off by saying i haven't been to a lot of shows so this is based off TV.

A lot of American fights seem to involve a quiet audience. For example I just watched the mayweather vs canelo fight and it was pretty quiet throughout. If mayweather fought in the UK (where I am from) i would predict a lot of noise. The loudest places tend to be Belfast or Glasgow for example with chants etc going on throughout.

wondering why this is. Would Americans come to the UK an hate the noise? or would they enjoy it. Maybe a more civilised audience. Not sure

A lot of the UK crowds are great.

Much more into it than a lot of the seemingly bored American crowds.

The fans from UK, Mexico and Poland are the best.

Our own fans in germany are not. its like fighting in a church.

Irish crowds (Belfast/Dublin) are manic, especially Belfast, but that's cus everybody in Belfast is ****ing crazy

    I would probably agree

The noise when Carl Frampton fights is unreal

Well Frampton has kind of brought it to world wide attention at the Odyssey, but the Kings Hall days were always famous for atmosphere.

Steve Bunce told Barry Jones before he worked a Belfast bill for the first time :I warn you Barry, Manchester is good, London is good, Glasgow is good, Cardiff is good..there is nowhere like Belfast

Barry Jones replied that it surely couldn't be any better than the Calzaghe-Kessler bill at the Millenium stadium

fast forward and Jones says he's never seen any atmosphere even closely resemble that of a fight in Belfast

I don't think the American crowds are as drunk the UK crowds.

Don't forget montreal crowds... usually a great atmosphere as well.

it was on Bunces Boxing hour after the Parodi fight where they were talking about the conversation and Jones admits he was blown away by the atmosphere

Hearn also said he was electrified by the Belfast atmosphere and that they had to get Frampton out there more often, but then went on to say that the Belfast shows didn't do good numbers for Sky and then that's when that relationship started to break down

havent really seen too much of the Montreal crowd on TV

the Mcguigan fights back in the day sound much the same as the Frampton fights

This. Plus its just not the tradition to act that way. If you want to see American crowds go nuts with all the chanting and facepaint you have to watch college football.

I'd agree they probably arent as drunk

Not sure i see the point in a tradition that makes the event and the TV coverage boring. Although I understand it wont be changing anytime soon. I think the American boxing promoters should talk to Dana White about how to put on a show. The American boxing cards are far superior and far more stacked than the UK cards for example..... just turn out to be quite dull unless a Mexican fighter is involved to generate crowd noise
