why are people surprised? this is probably about the sixth most interesting fight to be made in the welterwight division. it features a shot fighter who has lost against most of the best names hes ever faced and a young, talented but boring fighter who lost a fight with the biggest name he ever faced. a week after the town of las vegas got to see cotto vs margarito, what will probably be the fight of the year who would want to pay to see this when they could watch it on tv?
This wasn't exactly a super-fight. Judah's mediocre and Clottey's mediocre, and they weren't exactly expected to produce a barnburner, or even a high quality boxing match. Going to a fight ain't cheap, you know. Basically, this was a "crossroads" fight between two so-so contenders. Why would hardcore fans - let alone casual sports fans - pack the arena for that! Personally, I thought the fight was much better than expected, but it didn't appear that way going in.
