AM was suspended because elements of what is used in plaster was found on the gauze. It was found on the knuckle padding of the wrap.

What amazes me even more is how all the Margo****ers defended the **** out of him til the dept of justice report. Then they were all saying ban him for life...while at the same time claiming there was no proof he used them in previous fights, now this. Although there is no proof in previous fights it just goes to show they are willing to go to any end and jump through any loophole to defend him.

    Ahh, that's not entirely true.
#1 What we do know is that Margarito stands accused of using plaster of Paris in his hand wraps.

#2 - Trace elements were found.

#3 - Plaster of Paris was not found.

    #4 - Margaritos hands were re-wrapped.

#5 - No cheating occurred.....an attempt may or may not have been made but the actual act of cheating did not take place.

#6 - Nazims statements to the effect of something looked unusual in the wraps may be accurate.........but jumping to the conclusion of plaster of Paris is incorrect.

#7 - Lab results in no way indicate or specify that Margarito attempted to load his gloves with hand wraps containing plaster of Paris, which Margarito stands accused of.

i am awed by the variety and severity of details in this post that demonstrate both a profound lack of understanding of why antonio margarito's wraps were suspect, how a fighters hands are mandated to be legally wrapped before a professional fight AND a profound lack of understanding of physical science and chemical interactions between foreign substances and bleached cotton fiber laid over human skin and wrapping tape (which is generally either acrylic, polyester or rubber-based).

no need to go into all of them...only the most glaring few will do.

one: there were a number of issues regarding the wrapping of margarito's hands, not least of which is the fact that tape was being applied around the wrists and over the kunckles without any gauze barrier between. tape may not be applied directly to the skin under the first layer of gauze--or directly to the skin at all--for good reason. the direct absorbtion of sweat and water from the water bottle and sponge into a cellulose-based, pressure-sensitive tape and the subsequent drying of that sodium-rich sweat in a warm environment causes rigidity and the accelerated transfer of the cellulose-based adhesive to the gauze above...so even in the absence of plaster of paris, there were a number of other glaring issues that might have presented similar probems and illegalities. so defending only the plaster of paris is no defense at all. margo's only defense, and the one he has clung feebly to, is that he didn't know.

two: there cannot be, of course, a stated ratio of chemical parts that qualifies the presence of plaster in any broad sense. plaster of paris, as you, clearly are not aware, is a term that is mistakenly used often to describe several differently chemically mixed types of plaster used in industrial products such as dry wall as well as other types of organic plasters including lime plaster and naturally rendered cement plaster (cement plaster is the base ingredient and sometimes the only ingredient in stucco that you might see on celings or home exteriors)...the synthetic portland cement plaster is also differently chemically bonded and formed and included in this classification. the amount of calcium present can vary greatly based on the type of substance used and the ratio of synthetics to organics in the material...this is the case because only one type of plaster, plaster of paris (in its most strictly prescribed form) would leave notable traces of calcium sulfate, which, incidentally, is not the same as pure, organic calcium, which does not neccessarily harden when wet. the other's are not created by the superheating steam-aerosolizing of gypsum, so your argument crumbles, like, well, plaster.

the point is, the wraps were hardened and hardening during the wrapping...according to the comission and first-hand witnesses...no evidence has been supplied to support any such theory that there was no material present to harden the wraps...just because someone dead and full of bloody, smoking holes wasn't shot with a confiscated .38 after ballistics tests doesn't mean no one shot them, or that they aren't dead.

i am not trying to be a jerk, it's just that there are, quite literally, about a dozen other moments in the relatively short post in which the rules and regulations of boxing and the foundations of chemical-physical science are just completely violated and fundamentally incorrect statements are made. this is not my opinion, everything i said could be verified by looking at a sanctioning body's rule book, licensed referee or talking to a chemist--or even a high school science teacher.

im not questioning what youre claiming but can you direct me to the info where shane his doctor and richardson all identified it as plaster. this would shed some more light on the subject for me as i would tend to take shanes word for what he saw.

i should also say that there have not been any reliable tests or testimony set in stone in this case...accordingly, i have not made up my mind and can't reasonably about any guilt or innocense in this case. there is some smoke and reason for investigation AND doubt, the problem is that people with no background in boxing or science besides having internet access are googling their way to absurdist claims about why margo is or is not guilty before any such determinations have even been begun, let along made.

All your points add up to absolutely ****. You sound like a sleazy lawyer. And reread Nazims statements..it goes into quite a bit more detail than something looked off. In fact, as I recall, he stated two hard chunks fell out when the gauze was removed. As for the rest of your points, I couldnt put it any better than sweetscientist did, so Ill let you re read what he stated.
