KG was one of the best posters on this site...... Sweet Pea is now one of the best posters here... PacDbest is grinning his ass off right now, I feel he was banned unfairly, while people like Rico can still have free reign..... What an unjust world!

I read this whole thread and for some reason Pac fanatics just don't seem to understand that the Oscar that was in there was not the Oscar of old. We have proof of this by the Forbes fight. Look at how badly Oscar looked in the ring also note the way he looked after the fight and this was from a handpicked fighter. Yes, he won comfortably, but the truth is dude didn't look all that great against Forbes who looked as though he was just there for the ride. Oscar's defense was definitely suspect or at least it was to me and I am sure many noted that Oscar has seen better days, but I mean how could he not he was just a part time fighter.

What Pac fanatics seem to forget was the reason that this win was so significant for Pac were because of the following A.) people thought the weight gain would be too much for Pac and he would lose speed and power B.) People thought that even a shot Oscar should be able to handle pac. Pac fanatics should understand that the win vs Oscar was significant in the sense that Pac was not suppose to be able to win against a shot fighter. It also stands to reason that Pac deserves credit for his dismantling of Oscar since it was expected that even a shot Oscar should be able to take out a prime Pac that is out of his comfort zone in weight. It does not however show an indication of how well Pac would do against the best at 147.

Another fact that Pac fans are missing is that Oscar is no longer a top fighter, he's just very marketable. This does not translate into how good he is at 147 and this fight does not show an indication of how good Pac would do in this division. In fact there are many questions still at hand of how well Pac would do at 147 which is probably why they are moving back down in weight since the fight he had, had little risk for Pac and a whole **** load of reward. The only thing we can take from this fight is that Pac moves feels and looks good at 147, but we don't know how he will react to an actual cream of the crop 147 fighter and I think thats the biggest question we should all have.

I guess the point I am trying to make is Pac deserves much respect not because he beat a great in his prime, but because he beat an opponent that experts said even shot should be able to handle Pac. We should also take the fact that because of this fight we know Pac can fight at weights thought too be too much or at least have a better idea f how he would fair. There are still questions left to be answered, but everything is looking good for Pac and as a boxing fan I am shitting my pants with anticipation.

As a side note I personally can see Pac taking Hatton, I've become a huge fan of his since his wars with JMM and Morales. I also feel that Pac's power didn't translate as well as his speed did due to evidence of the Oscar fight. The beat down Oscar took was due to an accumalation of punches and a broken spirit. So please Pac fanatics ease up on your man crush for this awesome fighter.

To be fair, its difficult to tell from that angle,it actually looked more like a sharp left cross than an actual jab......he did go down easily however, and for whatever reason seemed to amuse the **** out of him whilst on the canvas

Skinny Hussein had a very very good jab and yes he could turn into a heavy straight left sometimes...Definitely shook Pac up a bit but in the end that fight was nearly all Pac.
There was some talk of a long count in that fight...which is absolute crap, Manny was up pretty quickly, the ref did seem to give him a little more time then usual but it wouldnt have mattered.

Hussein is a good fighter, he has a lot of arsenals against Pac....

His jabs, hooks,.......elbows, wrestling....well Agapito had more arsenals though.... he has his low blows.

Let's see I think Pac was like 18 or 19 at that time? Without even a Roach on his side. It was a low level Pacquiao we saw there... the 1 dimensional jab jab straight left. Hahaha he is even so skinny that Morales or Barrera could just blow Pac off any round they want.

I saw that fight on TV back in the early 2000's.

It wasnt an all Pac show.

Hussein played really rough and dirty that night. The ref was old and past his prime (Carlos Padilla) and he let Hussein fight like that until the later rounds, when he finally penalized him for illegal tactics.

And it was a long count. Padilla counted a bit slow, and he also let Pac recover for a few more seconds after he stood up.

Pac won most of the later rounds, and he cut Hussein's eyebrow, which led to a TKO.

My personal opinion was, the ref stopped it too soon. The cut wasnt that bad, and it wasnt gushing blood. Pac was getting the better of the exchanges anyway, and he had a realistic chance of dropping Hussein, legitimately.

I remember Hussein looked like the bigger, stronger, more physically solid fighter. He was pushing Manny around like a ragdoll all over the ring.

It was a dirty fight by Hussein. Fans were throwing trash and water bottles at him after the fight. Bad night.

Maybe we should post the video of the whole fight? Not just the great KD Pac recieved from Hussein. SO they would know what just really happened.

Yeah Ive seen it a couple of times..The cut was not that bad..Far from a good stoppage but Manny was ahead, and seemed to be running away with the fight by then. So certainly nothing controversial.

Skinny was my favourite Aussie boxer of the time and pretty much right up until he stopped fighting...He was fighting quite dirty, but Pac wasnt exactly an angel himself...Skinny was doing a lot of rope-a-dope and sitting inside his peek-a-boo defence, Manny wasnt letting him get off very much, I think that frustrated Skinny so he resorted to the dirty stuff.

The time Manny got to recover was longer but some people make out as though Manny would not have made it up if the count had been not so slow..Jeff Fenech (Skinny's trainer at the time) for one but the count ends when the ref reaches 10 and Manny was always going to make that no matter what.
