Gurov was a southpaw I think, around the same size to. Could be if he were fighting a particularly smart southpaw with a crisp jab, good offensive footwork to cut the ring down, one with the mentality of a fighter, but Audley is not that imo, although I do like him, he is a nice guy, so I hope he wins, but...
Audley lacks mental strength – he looks miserable when he’s in the ring. He punches back from desperation and against limited opposition he’s often been able to pull it out the bag. But Haye isn’t limited. He’s a fast, powerful, slick banger. And he has the exact style to make Harrison have a panic attack.
2 months ago everyone was saying this fight was a mismatch. Other than the Sky PR machine getting up to speed and selling the fight, I don't see whats really changed.
I would love to see Audley win a world title but the fact is Haye is going to slaughter him, possibly in the first round. Audley is terrified of getting hit, you can see it in his eyes when punches are coming at him. Haye is going to be better prepared than he was for Ruiz. Haye will KO Audley in 2 rounds, possibly 1.
Now this is a good point, its shows the mentality of Harrison, which is what I was trying to get at in an earlier post regarding Harrison's mental strength, that he is not mentally strong. Harrison is the type of fighter who will fight like he is in a trance for most of the fight, sleep walk through rounds, put himself in a precarious position, then! try and do something about it, which is the typical behavior of someone who is NOT mentally strong. Mentally strong people are clinical in their execution, they dont get it wrong, then have the character to put it right, they simply get it right 8/10. See to me, in Boxing, you get fighters that are too offensive for their own good, but you also get defensive fighters who are too defensive for their own good(Malignaggi), only Boxing is about finding the balance between the two, the balance from not being overwhelmed cause your not demanding enough respect cause your being too defensive, to being picked off in spots because your being overly aggressive. What usually happens to these fighters is, when they try to do something about this problem, they tend to take it too literal, which is usually done out of desperation, which is why its dangerous. Take Calderon against Segura, he was being more offensive out of desperation, not because he wanted to be offensive, he was being overly aggresive in those spots because he thought he had to be more aggressive, but because he is not use to having that perfect balance between offense & defense, he was showing too much of himself offensively in those despartion moments, which obviously played into Segura's hands, now im not saying that is soley why! he lost, but it played a factor imo.
From the get go in this fight, David Haye has been totaly uncomfortable with this. You can tell once upon a time, David Haye used to hold Audley Harrison in high regard and look up to him..........his behaviour is all disjointed. He's like a child when put next to Audley Harrison. He's been going back with himself, one moment this fight is going to as one sided as a gang ****, the next minute Audley Harrison has no ability at all, and then he is speaking to Steve Bunce saying it's going to be a hard fight, then he is hoping this fight goes 9-10 rounds, "Making statuses on his twitter saying so, Then Audley Harrison has the ability to make David Haye want to be in the best shape of his life.....................i could go on and on, about the type of things David Haye has said in this fight. I might actually post David Haye, going back and fourth with himself......totally confused. David Haye is confused guys, believe me. It's going to be a tense David Haye during his ring entrance............... David Haye has trained like never before, he's scared right now. In fear of losing, and i think we are going to see the best David Haye we have ever seen......... I've never seen David Haye so tense and nervous during a fight build up. I've studied Psychology, plus it's just basic psychology. Anybody can see that David Haye is way more nervous than Audley Harrison................ I told everybody here, that there was no fear in Audley Harrison when the fight was made, and the closer and closer to the fight. His confidents will rise. These guys are both Winners. You don't show a Winner his ambition, or put it right in his face. Audley Harrison has never failed when his back was truly against the wall, and he needed to win.............he has never failed.
You know, evaluating what your not so good at, what the critics have used to knock you with, can improve you as a fighter if you take it on board and try to improve that aspect of your game, of coarse most of joe public are not as clued up about Boxing as fighters, but they know commonsense, they can see when someone is being too cautious etc etc. Deluding yourself to any potential problems will only keep you going on your journey, but it wont improve the aspect of your game that still needs addressing, thats been Harrison's problem imo.
Apart from fights that were deemed essential and possibly end of the road at the time, like Guinn and Rogan.
Your watching too much sky sports news . Haye inside 3 rounds. Winning press conferences doesn't win fights, some guy on here said before that Kessler won the "staredown" with Ward. We all know how the fight went. Audley will **** himself on the nite and even at his best he doesn't have the skillset to beat Haye. He has decent abilty, but Audley wont take chances, Haye will. Thats the difference.
Mentally strong,Harrison???? Lets get back to reality here now ok. Audley Harrison hasn't arrived at a world title shot through destiny. He got the shot through him been a very low risk opponent for Haye, with a high reward financially. If Haye was solely in boxing to fullfil ambition he would be fighting Adamek, or the Klitshko's. Harrison got this fight cos it makes perfect sense from a business point of view, thats all!!
Don´t seriously buy into this ´destiny´nonsense and all this crap about press conferences and who says what. In the ring its Audley Harrison against David Haye, their attributes do not morph overnight.
Audley is a skilled fighter,he has shown glimpses of it in his career. He is up for the fight that is for sure.If Audley has a good game plan which involves using his jab and staying out of range he is in with a chance. He cant afford to let Haye dictate the pace of the fight or try trading with him especially early on.Audley probably has it in him to win this fight as ever with him though you never know how he is going to act on the night.
