Audley announces retirement

Discussion in 'British Boxing Forum' started by TheUzi, May 1, 2013.

  1. His biggest achievements were in the amateurs with the medals and the change in funding he helped obtain

In the Pros he was unfortunately a faliure
Any time he was in with anyone of note he was beaten and most of the time with ease

People will say yes but European champion and world title challenger but if you llol into those claims you will see possibly one of the worst world challengers in modern history as well as one of the poorest and luckiest European champs no mean feat

He looked fleetingly good against Williams and sprott before being sparked, they were his peak days and that was his level,British nothing wrong with that but dont be conned into thinking anything else

Goodbye audley, nice bloke, inspiring. Bad bad bad for the reputation of boxing

Audley needs a pundit job pronto- but who would employ him? America may be fertile ground for him.

Nah he would be forcing it in the US. He needs to be comfortable like in Prizefighter's against fat blokes of the street.

    Harrison Promotions
    A-Forcenation TV channel

    You know it works. :deal

He made more money in Boxing than literally thousands of fighters and a **** load more than he deserved.

no harm to Audley, but just a rediculous indictment of Boxing's Super Hype mentality that it has become, and producing more unqualified recognition for nothing than at any other time in the sports history!

  5. I think audley damaged British boxing and it's place on the mainstream

We have had great success with eubank, benn, hamed,Bruno, hatton and calzaghe but I think audley has hurt the likes of froch and haye reaching their popularity

His crazy promotional decisions and matchmaking was so unattractive that the BBC severed ties with boxing and still to this day that hasn't changed
Then a new Dawn at itv and horrible fights like the borefest between him and Williams turned the public off
Then he gets the big shot at the world, this time sky box office.casual fans everywhere watched a pacifist throwing one punch in 3 rounds.his performance was said to have brought boxing into disrepute, damaged the ppv model almost irreparably and finished off many big fight fans love of the game

The fact is audley did that and still managed a 82 second loss to David price and a 70 second loss to deontay wilder on boxnation
So he stunk out everywhere,he harmed the British publics opinion of boxing that's no exaggeration I see it all the time.no terrestrial channel apart from 5 have touched boxing since they say it's too expensive and risky

For people growing up watching hagler-hearns,Tyson ripping the heavys apart and eubank/benn/Watson/Collins/calzaghe era the thought of boxing not producing the goods was unlikely
With audley it was a regular painful occurrence
I'm afraid he is a very poor ambassador for British boxing

    Great for the amateur game
    Horrendous for the pros

Good luck to him,I genuinely like the guy. His career wasn't the dismal failure its often made out to be. He just never achieved the expectations people had after his gold medal win.

I can't understand the love for the man just because he talks a loads of bull ****, anyone can do that, doesn't make you likable in my eyes. He also doesn't actually believe any of it himself he just uses it as his gimmick to get a pay day. Fair play to him for doing that and securing his family's future but he wasn't deserving of it. His fights were also incredibly dull, he never delivered anything that he said he would and hardly even tried! I can't remember a situation before where the BBBoC were actually going to deduct money from a fighters purse for not making enough effort in a world title fight, it just beggars belief.

    Good riddance to bad rubbish.

Nothing against the man, good luck to him.

But as a fighter he was awful and did a lot of damage to the professional sport of boxing.

Audley was worse than Tye Fields. For some reason he would just freeze in the ring. He should have been able to beat Wilder. Good thing Wilder backed out of a fight with Tony Thompson. I think Hughie Fury would knock Wilder out...............

@Jonny: You are a depressing no hoper twat, just go away. You are exactly the reason why people love Audley. Because one of the reasons are constantly negative people like you hate him!

Yet another success story for Audley Harrison! He fooled and showed up all the zombie haters for what they really are. Evil jealous ****s.

    Audley Harrison 1-0 Zombies

@Jack Dempsey: You f*cking tit! You had to spoil it didn't you!?! People been ignoring AudleyKlitschko for weeks, nobody has been paying attention to this no life repetetive ****. He has started threads and got zero reaction, talking to himself, nobody replying to it, and then you go and spoil it.

    What a plonker Rodney! :-(
