From the sun There are some great quotes from Audley in this interview. AUDLEY HARRISON sounds like an old-fashioned preacher man as he prophesies his upcoming conversion from prodigal son to chosen one. The 39-year-old heavyweight swapped punchbags in the gym for some bible-thumping as he spoke about his second coming. Harrison lapped up the Californian sunshine and the attention while explaining how a man who spent 10 years in the wilderness after winning Olympic Gold can be world champion when he challenges David Haye next month. He said: "I believe in God and believe I have a God-given talent - so I know what I'm doing is not an accident, it's for a purpose. "I was born to be a boxer, born to be a beacon for people and born to be a champion. "Yes, it's taken me a long time. But now I'm here I know this is my destiny. "I take strength from the old adage that says 'God doesn't give you anything until you can handle it'. I take inspiration from that - I know I am ready now and I can handle this. "I believe in my heart and soul that I'm ready to be the undisputed heavyweight champion. This is my time. "It has taken me 10 years to get here and a lot of pain and one helluva struggle. "But I tell you nobody will savour it more than me. "I'm somebody who's done bad, but who's now doing good. "I'm someone who has triumphed over adversity. And I'm showing people this is what can happen when you really believe in yourself." Read the full article here: http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepag...e-champ-this-is-my-destiny.html#ixzz12fAPpNME
Don't mean to have a go, but surely you could've just dropped this in one of the numerous Harrison threads?
I kind of Admire Audley in a way. Even if he is talking bull**** there might be some people out there who believe him and it may help them to gain some kind of purpose to thier sad little lives. :think
Audley truly believes all the crap he spouts. You can't fault him for it and I prefer it to the forced PR from Mr Haye.
Im really starting to think Harrison is right up for this fight, and even though I see stylistic issues for him in the fight, due to his age for the most part, if he fights with as much passion as what he is talking in these interviews, he could! make this interesting, I just hope he is on it mentally when the bell rings. Even though I feel this fight fell in Harrison's lap, more so than him fighting his way into contention, you gotta respect the man's perseverance, its not about money, which is admirable in a sport where there is often a conflict of interest between the glory and money. Come on big Aud :thumbsup
Nothing against Audley, but he's been saying this **** for every fight he's ever done, I really don't see what is so different right now.
I just keep imagining the look of terror on Audley's face when he gets in there and Haye starts swinging. Sure, Audley has a puncher's chance. But like everyone else I'm just watching to see Harrison laid out, blood everywhere. It's gonna be like he's been hit by a ****ing train. In 3D too. Anyone else watching this in 3D?
It could easily end in the first round if Audley gets brave. But he won't, so we'll need to suffer him running for five or so rounds before Haye catches up with him. Haye doesn't open up in prolonged bursts, so Aud's not getting the chance he did against Sprott.
Audley just gives you more and more reasons to hate him. I cant wait til Haye smashes inside the first round.
Harrison needs to have some kind of irrational belief that he can win...if he just looked at the facts he would realise he doesn't have a hope in hell
