Both had all the strengths needed to be a serious threat to the very elite contenders and could have and maybe should have been a world champion but they both lacked heart for a fight when it got tough. Who is the one that will regret not giving his all when the big fights came?

Audley had the amature pedigree but Bugner fought the big names.

Bugner fought Frazier once and Ali twice in the 70's. Took them to points in all three fights.

Why are you saying Bugner had no heart?

You really think Harrision would have lasted a round with either Fraser or Ali?

C'mon man you're being extremley unfair to Bugner by even mentioning him in the same scentence as Harrision.

As a boxer Harrision is a charlatan and a fraud.

Bugner is a very underated fighter in the eyes of us brits , probably the reason he ****ed off and settled in Australia , He was hated here for beating up Cooper . Bugner would wipe the floor with Harrison and had heart enough to fight the then elite fighters in the world as a pro unlike Harrison who only fought @ World Class level as an amature .

My point that Bugner really was that good but instead of trying to win against Frazier he poofed around and showed no heart, he did this every time a huge fight came up. He really could have been great.

Yea i understand what your saying its like in the Shavers fight when he got cut , he just quit however if what a read a few years back that an opponent later died after one of his fights is true then i can understand his reluctance to get involved in trench warfare , can anyone help me out here as to if this death was infact true or did i dream it ( I dream about boxing a lot ) for some reason :huh

I'm not a fan of Bugner: his second fight with Ali was a disgrace and he's an obnoxious ***** to boot. Enjoyed Bruno beating him up.

However, he is vastly superior to anal farce, thats for damn sure.

Bugner was a tough fighter with a big heart. It was being a pacifist which was his ultimate downfall.

Agree with that but still feel that it takes a certain kind of madness to eneter the ring at this level. Okay, there was the promise of a good payday (even back then when he was a household name... something that a lot of our top fighters aren't due to **** poor TV coverage). For whatever reason, he may have lacked that ruthless streak that most champions require to possess; but still a pretty able fighter in his prime. And I don't think he was in his prime when he fought Bruno - no disrespect to the big man incidentally - who did a number on him!

Agree also that the British press hated him and this gave him a rough ride in this country. I mean you can't go round beating up a national teasure... even if he should have hung up his gloves and retired earlier. Cross the Fleet St mafia (as they were then) at your peril.
