Harrison has one last chance to leave his mark on the heavyweight division when he fights David Pricefor the British and Commonwealth titles on October 13.

"You saw what happened. I bombed. But it wasn't about the glory, it was on a hope and a prayer. I thought maybe I could do it."
    Audley Harrison
    Quotes of the week
He has once again vowed to 'leave it all in the ring' against Price after failing to deliver the goods on numerous occasions in the past.

Harrison claims to have battled injury throughout his professional career, and says promotional disputes disrupted his ascent through the ranks following his Olympic victory in Sydney.

However, he finally got his chance to fight for a world title out of the blue, only to blow the opportunity by barely throwing a punch against Haye, losing in three rounds.

    Injury

But Harrison, now 40, insists he had to take the fight despite being injured.

"You've got to understand why I took that fight," he said. "I just won the European title (against Michael Sprott), which kind of got me in position. But I tore my pec in that fight in the third round, I fought the rest with one arm.

"I didn't want to give up, and knocked him out in the final round, but I had to have surgery after that fight, and another surgery in 2010.

"Two weeks after that, I get a call saying I've got to defend my title or give it up. I had just won it, why would I give it up!

"So I was forced to give it up, as my doctor was saying it could be over, the pec would never come back.

"Two weeks later I get a call from David Haye's people saying I had to take the fight, so I had five months to try and get ready for the fight. My pec never got there, but the payday was so great I really had to go for it. I'd lost my European title.

"You saw what happened. I bombed. But it wasn't about the glory, it was on a hope and a prayer. I thought maybe I could do it.

whats his career earnings now? got to be at least 2 mil sterling. im sure hes had another 1 mill on top of that in endorsements and appearance fees. when you add in a british title, a euro title and an olympic gold then hes actually had a pretty good career.

Audrey can **** off with his bull**** and his excuses. I don't wish serious injury on him, but I do wish Haye had given him enough of a scare to genuinely retire the big ugly ****. Just a brief hospitalisation after a brutal stoppage.

The problem with this despicable fraud is that he is such a coward he always goes down and stays down like he has been shot, at the first sight of being hit flush, so we have never seen the coward take the real beating that he deserves.

I know David Price will not be messing around, but it would be fun if he went all Vitali Klitschko on A FRAUD and rationed out the beating slowly.:hi:

i have a feeling price hits as hard or harder then hes ever been hit before so hes going to end up unconcious and forced into retirement.i know haye is a big bomber but the shots he tkod audrey with wernt massive or flush wheras price seems to hit quite cleanly and flush.
    enjoy retirement fraudley

I'm worried for him against Price, Audley is leaving the ring on a stretcher, this is a really bad fight.

Problem is, Audleys actually a pretty good self promoter and manages to have us all believing that maybe theres a chance he could pull something out of the bag. He's done it throughout his career and disappointed EVERY time, win or lose. He even managed to have many convinced he was going to 'leave it all in the ring' against Haye (did he even throw?). To be honest I don't think he's conning anyone this time. Fair play to Audley for bringing home that gold medal but he's done **** all since that and disappointed the fans with his hype and bull**** since then. IMO, the only reason he's got the fight with Price is due to them both being Olympians and theres a marketing ploy already in place. As a person, I don't actually mind Audley but I think it's time he finally did something to impress the fans and retire after his beating from Price.

Do you mean by being the younger, 6'8 guy against an ageing 6'5 dread and get stopped in 6 rounds?

I am thinking Vitali vs Danny Williams here. A sick beating and Danny still has the ringing in his ears and brain damage to this day from that fight. :bbb
