Because he is a big guy, with good skills. He just doesn't have the right mentality, or the kind of fighting heart needed to succed at the top level of the pro game.

Modern Olympic boxing has nothing to do with professional boxing. In Olympic boxing, hurting your opponent is sort of frowned upon. Olympic boxing is more like fencing than it is like prizefighting.

"Audley Harrison is set to return to the ring to compete in Prize-fighter’s third heavyweight boxing tournament on October 2nd at the York Hall. Current British Champion Danny Williams and Michael Sprott are also entering the tournament. The three have a big history with each other with victories and defeats to each other but many are asking the question, has Audley got anything left?" :hat

Although Hide is irritating he would have ended Harrison, he knew that so he picked a fight with a man who the general public would want him to fight, a man years into retirement. It was an embaressing moment for real boxing fans and although Hide's outburst was unacceptable you can understand why he was so pissed off with Harrison being a coward.

Hide struggles against large Heavyweights Ala Riddick Bowe who knocked Hide down about 8 times or whatever it was. And Vitali Klitschko who knocked him out in 2 rounds.

Audleys size could present Herbie Hide with a lot of trouble.

Did you just compare Harrison to Vitali and Bowe? Maybe but I'd back Hide. The fact is Harrison was scared to fight him, tells you everything.

That is your opinion that Audley was scared to fight Hide. Perhaps there was a really good reason for the fight not happening. We just dont know, there is a lot of business aspects and behind the scenes things that need to be worked out to make a fight.

Just the way he asked the crowd after the fight who'd you rather see me fight? Bruno or Hide. Now all the casual fans there said Bruno as they didnt have a clue who Hide was. Me and you know he was a more risky fight than an old Bruno. Harrison also knows this so he asks all the ****wits in the audience who'd they would rather see him fight knowing they'd say BRUNO like the morons they were. Just seems fishy to me but then again its true I dont claim to know the full story its just speculation.

Sure, Hide was more dangerous then an old mentally ill, shot fighter who hadnt fought since 1996. I know Hide wanted the fight, and Bruno couldnt care less. But still there could of been many business tweaks that prevented the fight from happening. That is what it seems like.

If Hide wants Audley, he should enter the Prize-fighter HeavyWeight tournament. It would be a chance to prove he is the best UK HeavyWeight ( besides David Haye). His cruiserweight career is going no where as he cant get anyone to fight him. And Hide is relegated to fighting bums.

This is the fight everyone wants to see, Hide vs Harrison? Right.

pretty much everything. that's the short answer. if your looking for the proper reasons for his utter failure as a professional, then there are several things to blame, namely he wasn't ever that great (amateur until about 30), he talked a good lot and lacked the skills to back it up, and he simply got too bigheaded for his own good (the sky deal being part of the reason for this).

I watched several of his fights, and mainly because I had a few beers, remember on particular fight shouting at my TV, FIGHT DAMN IT FIGHT, FOR CHRISTS SAKE THROW A PUNCH, his trainer was slapping the crap out of him in his corner between rounds trying to wake him up or something.
One of the worst cases I have seen of an up and coming guy with skill speed and power that just would not fight. And I don't think he was scared or a coward, just that he does not have fighter/boxer's personality.

Will Harrison get some credit if he wins the Prize-fighter Heavyweight tournament and proves to be the best British Heavyweight (accept Haye) ?
