when its put like that it makes him even worse. how much money you think he make in his career to date?
HWs have been sucessfull at advanced age these days, so that is not such a shortage, just check Rogan, Vitali, Skelton, McCall, Holy, Meehan, Toney, only that all of them are freaking tough, hungry and determined fighters, something that Audley is not, with him is more on his mental state than other things bc he clearly has the physical assets. Also, Audley has been too inactive, if he still wants something in boxing he needs to sense the urgency. Can't deny that he atracts the public interest, even if in a negative way. Winning the prizefighter torney will give him the right exposure to get back on track, but he needs to make the right moves after that.
If Audley can win Prizefighter (and I think he has a good chance), or at least put up a very good showing, I think if he keeps himself active he should be able to get himself a British title shot. It's not too late to turn his career around (remember how Johnny Nelson went from zero to hero?), but it all depends on Prizefighter. If he puts in a poor showing I don't think any breaks will come his way, as virtually everyone has condemned him anyway and that would basically be the final nail in the coffin. But I think this is a good platform to take the opportunity and make the very most of it. It's sort of do or die for him. I really do hope he does well.
He is too old now. If he was serious he wouldn't have fannied around for several years after winning the Olympics title; he was already cracking on. To be fair to him he made a packet doing that though.
Absolutely. If he does it right he could conquer domestic and European but he'll never topple the Klits. Not in a million years. Domesitc and Europe would make a nice legacy but even that seems too far. It's for the simple reason that he may be bigger, more talented, more experience as an amatuer etc BUT our domestic scene is composed of tough sons of bitches. Rogan, Skelton, Williams and Sprott ain't laying down for no one, even if they ain't in shape. They are all too tough for Audley. However a Williams II performance gets the juices going.
To begin with; if only Audley could show a bit of humility.... (Audley if you are reading: "Humility noun the quality or condition of being humble; modest opinion or estimate of one's own importance, rank, etc.") Then you never know some people might actually start liking him!
I remember when Max Kellerman said that Audley was the future of boxing, next champion! LOL! He said that on ESPN2 years ago.
I think his amateur pedigree may help him over the shorter rounds as long as he remebers it's not 12 rounds his boxing and dumps the overly cautious tactics, there's no doubting the guy has ability and a good jab but as peeps have said before not, much heart. As for him ever being humble, don't see it. It's not in him, he was always a loud mouth at the Repton it's just him part of his nature. Never been in to prizefighter much before but this one looks the nuts.
Just seen Audley on SSN - says that there's 'as story behind Audley Harrison' that he's going to tell one day hinting that stuff outside of the ring has badly affected him since 2004. Easy to come up with stuff like that the excuse poor performances isn't it - most boxers seem to have an excuse for a loss - but whichever way Audley's heart's not been it it from the start of his pro career. Still, will be interesting to see if he's got much left although I Sprott, Gammer and Williams are at the wrong end of their careers also
