Thats one of Harrison's other issues imo, and it all stems from his cautious nature, he has this tendency to want to walk you onto a left hand, which is a direct result of not wanting to snap and dictate with the jab, but to command repsect by drawing you in and dropping that left hand counter on you, but that is extremely dangerous if someone beats you to the punch, gets off first, is faster than you, which Haye is.

Audley is not a counter puncher, he catches shots and waits for gaps. He occasionally steps back to offset an oncoming opponent, but that's it.

I do think - in my opinion - he can frustrate Haye basically, as stupid as it may seem, just by refusing to be blasted out early and by being cagey, cautious and not allowing Haye to find openings. This is obviously a fight in which Haye needs to and will look to make a statement, if he can't get Audley in the first 3 or 4, will he get a bit frustrated and look to force the issue and force the openings a bit more? I think he will.

He could do that, by simply remaining in there. But he will lose every single round doing that, and it will be on him to change his gameplan midfight. It's not that easy to just turn it on like a tap without getting into any sort of flow, the timing won't be there, its a big ask. I still think he's best off being positive with his jab and hoping its good enough, if its not I don't see anything else he can do.

Dftaylor is right, Harrison is not a counter puncher, well not a good one anyway. He's awful on the inside and has poor footwork, which means Haye can always get his foot outside Harrison's much quicker. Actually that's the problem with Harrison...he doesn't really have an identity because he's average in so many areas. He's probabily best at long range but he can't dominate from there for long periods, as he's easy to get in on.

It seems kind of pointless trying to analyse this because all the things Harrison would need to do to win, he just can't do! If he's unsually aggressive he's getting knockout, if he's cautious he's getting outwork and probabily eventually stopped late on. The speed and athleticism difference is just gonna be so vast.

If i was Harrison, i would keep it very long initially, try and beat Haye to the punch from the outside particularly with the simple 1, 2 and then grab to disrupt Haye's rhythm and to try and frustrate him. This would help him in achieving what his big attempt in this fight should be, and that's trying to set Haye up for a few big power punches and then seeing what happens from there.

He's gonna have trouble doing this though, because Harrison really hasn't got good anticipation. He absorbs punches rather then trying to avoid them with either leg movement or head/movement from the waist. What this means is he waits for you to reset and the storm to clear before he reacts, which means there is less chance of him landing a 'home run' punch on Haye and he can't exchange with him either.

It also means he won't be able to take full advantage of one of Dave's biggest weaknessess, which is leaping in and going off balance. This would be the best time to catch Haye but the problem for Harrison is, because he just absorbs punches it means whatever Haye throws is gonna land on something, won't be cought off balance and he can reset without much coming back.

What Harrison needs to do is be brave, don't just be in survival mode whenever Haye throws. He needs to take advantage of those little moments when Haye is open and is off balance, the main punch is one that comes from underneath that is directly out of David's eyesight.

That is true, what ever blue-print is laid out for Harrison, is kinda pointless if it dictates they must fight a fight he is not capable of, which is leading off more, being more offensive.

Agree, he just shells up, he does not punch with you, which If Haye steps around him when he shells up, mounts an attack from another angle, he could disorganize Harrison, which means he will most probably get some significant shots through.

Yeah, thing is, you dont need to match someone for speed, you to be able to punch WITH them, punch when they punch.

Some good stuff in this thread.
I think Hayes head movement and foot speed is gunna upset Audley. Haye is gunna try and get inside the right hand and unload heavys shots then pivot to keep Audley off balance and keep the shots coming in that kinda measured paced why that Haye now uses. Audley has to use that jab as a ram rod if u cant get the head bang the chest and shoulders with it and upset Hayes rythem if he lets David crowd him and land shots Harrison will freeze as usual and you cant get away with that with some who can crack.

We're on the same page. You don't need a lot of speed to punch with your opponent, although if there's a big disparity you're almost alway's gonna end up on the recieving side.

What you need a big dose of though and which Harrison doesn't have, is what they call anticipatory complience, the ability to react instinctively and modify or vary the speed and look on your punches. Harrison doesn't have the attributes or mentality to apply this strategy. His only hope IMO, is to frustrate Haye with a "get off first then hold" strategy and then try to time big single shots.

We have to try and be realistic here. Harrison is not suddenly gonna metamorphosis and show traits he hasn't before. He lacks quickness of the mind and change of direction skills.

Aud should keep it simple, the first few rounds are the most important,Haye won't expect you to go to him, take him out of his stride and take the fight to him and throw anywhere punches that hurt, show him early what he is buying into and rough him up....get him avoiding your punches not you his, after that your on your own...

I think he needs to bring that axe of his to have any chance. He has let that punch that knocked out sprott convince him that he is a huge puncher, he never has been.I believe he will stink the joint out like he did I the first Williams fight pawing the jab out trying to avoid Hayes best shots, the thing with Audley is that he has never been hard to hit.Haye will be to fast and powerful for Audley.

I also think Audley can be so hesitant that if he actually managed hurt Haye he would not take the chance and finish him off and would let Haye of the hook.I expect Haye to knock Audley out witihin 3 rounds maybe 6 if Audley gets up a few times.

Yeah, what I did when I boxed, was make a conscious to say to myself, punch when they punch, react with a counter when they have finished, or during, Audley is not capable that, plus, given that he is almost 40, his reflexes will be considerably slower than they were to begin with.

I also think he lacks the ability to react, because he does! fall to sleep behind the wheel, which is a result of his cautious nature, he lulls himself to sleep looking for the perfect opportunity to throw cause he is an overly cautious type of fighter who wont let it go unless he knows there is a 99% chance it will land, only he falls to sleep behind the wheel while doing this, which is even more dangerous.

Its very clear that David Haye or Hayerunner, is gearing up for another Valeuv performance, he's coming in at 215 pounds. Audley Harrison has better punch resistance by far, he has a better Jab.

David Haye has not even got a Jab, he literally has not got a Jab........

How on earth are they going to work their way in..? With his leaping left hook..?

David Haye was able to land afew Leaping Left hooks, against Ruiz and Barrett. But they fought like complete ******s, also its very worrying that somebody who prides himself on his accuracy.

Was hardly able to land on the slowest heavyweight of all-time, in Valeuv.

David Haye has great athletic ability, and lets face facts. Thats what won him..."JUST ABOUT" his WBA heavyweight title. He ran and ran and ran and ran, against a static opponent.

David Haye is going to get hit in this fight, Audley Harrison has by far better punch resistance, Rogan, Williams, and even Michael Sprott in the rematch hit Audley Harrison with their best punches, and he was still their.

And to be honest, i think Danny Williams hits harder than David Haye, it's the speed that David Haye hits you with. And he's just about been able to hit static opponents, with no defence. Plus David Haye throws single shots, and if he dose'nt land with that single shot he will dance away..................thats the guy we have seen at Heavweight.

I don't know who people are talking about, when they are saying..."This fight will be over in 3 rounds"...............are you guys talking about David Tua...? or David Haye...?

Audley Harrison is not static, he's 6"6 250pounds, he's not slow, single shots are not going to be good enough to penetrate Audley Harrison. Audley Harrison has good basic fundamentals, and will step back staying just about out of range of David Haye's single shots.........NONE..! NONE of David Haye's last oponents did this.

David Haye has shown no ability to fight under pressure at Heavyweight, Audley Harrison has.

And that's a big difference between Cruiser, it's a totally different World.

Another part of this fight that i think allot of people are over looking, is the physical side of this fight. Lennox Lewis was one of the strongest physical heavyweights of all-time up close.

Audley Harrison is not as strong, but he was able to tie up Martin Rogan, Danny Williams, and Michael Sprott up close. Wrestle them, lean on them, push them back............and these are rough tough, and strong guys. big big men......true heavyweights.

Over time, this gets the opponent fatigued.

And i honestly don't think David Haye is prepared or ready for a true nasty physical heavyweight fight. Audley Harrison can take this fight, down this road if he wants to, and come the middle rounds that's what's going to happen.

The type of fight i believe David Haye is going to fight, is allot more difficult. When a Jab is in your face, and i believe from the get go the Jab will be in his face. David Haye will be exspending allot of energy, using the ring trying to come in fast.........David Haye has better stamina than Audley Harrison, but the type of fight David Haye will be fight, will totally take this advantage away.

"David Haye waste too much energy, doing nothing. He's not at all comfortable fighting off the back foot, he's not Sugar Ray........but thats what type of fighter David Haye has become"

Even though i have said, David Haye is coming to pull another Hayerunner performance. After afew rounds, i think David Haye will start panicking, and lunging in more and more.

And eventually revert back to the Hayemaker.

And then we will have a true war on are hands, both guys will get tagged, but i believe David Haye will end up being sparked out.

    In a great fight..
