unfortunately Billy Ward just lost to the Cuban. 26-4 the young Cuban with to much class for the Aussie. He landed the much sharper more accurate punches. Billy sadly wasn't at all in the fight. outclassed from start to end. tough much up for an opening round. geez those Cubans are good!!
Poor Ward gave his all but it was 1 of the biggest mismatches i have seen all tournament. The Cuban would have stopped Ward if that was 3 pro rounds without headgear.
Horn did it easy...pretty limited opponent though. Don't know anything but his next 2 potential opponents..but Berinchyk is very good, hard ask in the quarters if Jeff makes it.
Jeffery Horn VS Abderrazak Houya (Tunisia, world #24) - 7am 05/08 http://www.london2012.com/athlete/houya-abderrazak-1083570/
Jeff Horn was impressive in winning 19 to 5. But I don't think Gilbert Choombe offered much of a test for him. We have got Horn, Damien Hooper, Ibrahim Balla and Cameron Hammond through to the round of 16. Which is a huge improvement on some of our previous Olympic efforts.
yes but eastern blok countries now fight pro, they were former soviet blok countries. cuba once took its lead from the USSR. i was wondering if their laws may have relaxed a little...
Jai Opetaia is up tonight. The Heavyweight, Super Heavyweight & Bantamweight all Round of 16 are on tonight. Jai Opetaia, Johan Linde & Ibrahim Balla all in action.
Looking forward to this one, couldn't find it in the schedule though so hopefully catch the replays, is Opetaia up against the cuban?
