Yeah it is good effort, though the manager at the pub was probably a Green fan. The pub I was at had a healthy crowd. About 40 ppl, whereas the RJJ - BHop fight had about 15 ppl 2 weeks ago. I still don't think he has caught the casual sports fan's imagination to Kostya Tszyu levels say post the Judah fight, but at the same time reckon interest in him has grown since his return to boxing.
We havn't, hes too afraid of my power to face me. Plus he said something about me not being allowed to smoke during the sparring which I think is unfair.
Toney may have been playing but he was awfully out of shape, roided up to his eyeballs and not really doing **** while he was fighting. Danny left the ring THE man while Toney left the ring a babbling baboon. I think Danny is great for Aussie boxing, there is no doubt in my mind he will take on anyone they put in front of him. Green must go down 1 division - bash Johnson then bash Tarver then over estimate his ability and get tanned by his daddy Mundine Jnr :deal
u people who say toney schooled green know full well that he didn't. toney obviously was not in top gear, but the reason toney was pissed was because that the effort he put in should have been enough to stop the little white guy and he was too tenacious for his size. he didn't want to be made to look bad against a small white punk. maybe a fight with adamek if he doesn't win against arreola and drops back down. it would be big in europe wouldn't it?
Same topic is running on another thread. Said there: Using your logic (Boilermaker's from other thread), and I think I agree with it, Green may well be capable of beating some/many of our heavies. Someone like Kali Meehan would probably beat him comfortably though IMO. Green would beat all our cruisers, and most of them very comfortably IMO. Bottom line is Green is busy getting the best fights he can, for the best $$$ he can get, at around his preferred body weight, and has little or nothing to gain from fighting locals physically bigger than himself.
Ah **** it, Greeny knows he couldn't hang with the worlds best CeeDubs, nevermind HWs, this is just publicity mongering. He'll end up chasing the likes of Tarver and maybe even still Hopkins. He'd be Australia's best CW, and could proabably dust some of, if not most of our heavies, but that's not really saying much.
I wuuld love to see Green fight Vea or McCracken with no weight restriction inside CW. As far as HW do you think he can give away 20 to 30kgs against Alex, Sol, and Mark and win?
I think Green could account for Vea and McCracken, but wouldn't like his chances vs the 3 HW's you mention above...although Solo isn't exactly Mr Switched on in the ring, but you'd want to hit him hard enough to KO him, cos if you don't, that's when he switches on and goes medieval :yep Alex is too big for him, De Mori too.
It's not one way traffic with the media rubbish coming out after Green's win against Saica: from Sydney Morning Herald - 16th April 2010: Matchmaker and cornerman for Anthony Mundine - George Reno - believes The Man would have little trouble repeating his 2006 triumph against Danny Green if the former super middleweight adversaries were to meet again after viewing Green's third-round KO of Manny Siaca in Perth on Wednesday night. ''Watching that performance, Danny Green was very strong but to me he looked slow and robotic and I reckon Choc would beat him at light heavyweight - or any other weight - on any day of the week,'' Reno said. ....The challenge has already been issued George. With that confidence, what are you waiting for?
