Just read on the scene that Joel has signed with Australia's newly adopted step son Gary Shaw. Seems like Gary is signing any Aussie with a bit of skills, Joel is a good bloke to start with, very very solid boxer! Gary thinks Joel is the goods and has what it takes to win a legit World title. What is everybodies thoughts on Gary Shaw and him working with Australia's best?
I fought on a couple of am cards with him back in the day (2003) and he was the goods then and a very down to earth fella. One thing is for sure, he always take his training seriously and isnt the type leave any stone unturned.
Which pretty much means there's no improvement left. I'd rather you say he never trained and had a **** trainer, that means if someone good got a hold of him and his dedication improved he could turn into something special.
:huh Not what i was implying Kel I was trying to say his not the type of fighter to waste a good opportunity and this may well be the only opportunity he gets to branch out from Oz and take on the world of boxing.
Absolutely, Joels a good bloke, we bump into him at the local fairly regularly. His trainer is a good bloke too. I hope he continues to do well, his last fight was tough and he looked pretty bashed up.
Brunker doesn't particularly impress me but opportunities like this can see a fighter grow...which he probably won't if he stays fighting in Oz against the guys he has been. Stuff like this is always great for Aussie boxing, even if it doesn't eventuate in a world title.
head defence is a bit leaky for a shot at a legit champ , got hit way too often the other night against a battler who worked out in the 3rd round joel could be hit with every jab he threw. will have to be matched like choc from now on. good bloke but plenty finish second at the highest level .
no guesses for why trent was there with angelo in tassie. i give it 12 months before hes signed with shaw too
All the best to him, it's certainly a great opportunity. Given that he is very dedicated means he'll never die wondering. Can't see him making the top levels based on the Tassie fight though, his 20-0 record was reminiscent of seeing the Hussein boys come through the ranks 10 years ago. While neither could properly hit the top, both looked to have more talent than Joel.
