The Aussie mens team is over in Europe training and competing in comps over there in prep for Olympic. had some good results so far! Damien Hooper (81kg) has won gold, Johan Linde (91+kg), Jeff Horn (64kg), Luke Jackson (60kg) and Ibrahim Balla picked up silver while Jackson Woods (52kg) got the bronze at The 50th Belgrade Winner Tournament in Lithuania. Ibrahim and Johan were close to the gold though loosing 11-11 on countback. At the 'Algridas Socikas' tournament also in Lithuania, Damien Hooper again won gold along with Cameron Hammond (69kg).. Jeff Horn picked up silver again as well.. Both comps were been stocked with plenty of international competitors who have qualified for the olympics as well. In other good news the aussie boys got the better of th Irish boxers (from what I've heard Ireland has a strong team for London) but have found the British boxers to be tough. Olympic game training and prep will continue in Europe and the team will b competing in the Liventsev Memorial tournament in Minsk, Belarus Sounds like the prep for the games is coming along nicely!! Definately looking forward to cheering the Aussie on in London :happy
Nice work sam :thumbsup Hooper must be in top form, any chance you have links to footage? I'll be staying up late to watch the fights
No links to any footage unfortunately. Also no new news about Jai. I'll keep and eye on the boxing australia site and google though and post anything new when i can

That was the Irish second choice team not the olympic team they boxed and Hooper only beat Egan on walkover.
Some are rating Damien Hooper as one of our best overall gold medal chances, alongside a few swimmers who are probably outright favourites in their events.
It all comes down to the draw I guess. The Africans won't beat him but look out for Russia kazakhstan ect in that 81 division
