Nice post Sam. I don't know too much about the am's let alone the Olympic team but am interested to begin learning more. Who do you think is our best chance at the games?
I'd probly say Jarrod Fletcher and Daniel Beahan.... Daniel finished just outside the top 4 at the world championships last year which was the highest any Australian got... and Jarrod won gold at the last Commonwealth games as well as gold at the Oceanic championships gold... so without actually havin seen much of either guy or there competition based on there achivements on the world stage so far they stand out amongst the other aussies.... I got faith in all the boys and theres some good talent amongst them but honestly dont think Australia is goin to be on top of everyones list as the team to watch out for. but all that aside i hope they all KO everyone and bring home several gold lol
i hope 2 guns flemmin goes well its good to see a lil murrie kid i grew up with achieve something like this onya paulie
Interesting, cheers for the heads up boys. I guess boxing gets a little backgrounded when all the olympic hype is around, but it'd be good to see our fella's get some support, hopefully they give it a good crack. Channel 10 were reporting on Jarrod Fletcher tonight and he pointed out the 50/50 factor in boxing and that you never know, thats the great thing about the sweet science. Good luck to all our lads.
Btw, how's your amatuer gig going super fly sam? Recall reading about it once or twice on here. Kept with it?
man im happy to say that i got back into the gym today (wed)!!!! after not trainin since last year.... had my last fight which i won in my hometown in december last year and then moved to sydney and work and tafe got in the way... but now im settled in alot better then at the start and im startin to find i got a bit more free time so i got myself to the gym!!!!! still feel as though i havent lost anything like skill wise.. heaps rusty and no where near as fit but i felt good today and im keen as to get back down to the gym ASAP
yeah cant forget those boys!! but for some reason (dont know why i've only ever seen him fight once) but i think Steve has a massive mountain in front of him if he wants to make it to the top... he's not even 18 yet and i just have this feelin that if he is matched against one of those russians or cubans or anyone of those guys who are like in there 20's and have had 100's of fights that he will be in for a tough time..... im not doubtin his ability (he could be spectacular for all i know) just thinkin that due to his age that he is gonna struggle with some of the older guys out there...... but dont get me wrong i still got 100% faith that he has the goods to bring home the gold!!!
i agree man... as well as Anthony Little.... its good to see a few Aboriginal lads in the team... is anyone else as pumped up bout the games as me???? i'll be doin my very best to watch every fight that an Australian is in... and any other fight aswell i guess lol
apparently every event an aussie is in is gettin shown and i think its safe to say the boxing comes under the every label so hopefully if what i herd is correct we'll get to see every punch thrown by the aus team
Can't wait for the olympics, im a big fan of amateur boxing. The 60kg weight division is gonna be very interesting, Tishenko and Gavin will probably meet again and the winner of that should get gold, also the WA lad Little has the height and reach to cause some problems. I think Todd Kidd is our best chance of a medal. Looking forward to watching Vodopyanov and Demetrius Andrade especially.
yeah its gonna be a good tournament... i read somewhere on this forum that 2 of Julian Jackson;s sons got into the us team... should be interestin if its the truth
