The Brisbane gridiron star's on-field prowess has earned "the Big Aussie'' hot ticket status in the US, where dozens of colleges want his signature. "I've narrowed it down from more than 30 to five, everything is going to plan,'' he said. "It's (a dream) pretty close to coming true.'' The defensive tackle's career has taken off since he signed a two-year football scholarship with the Arizona Western College last year. He is the only indigenous Australian to receive such a scholarship to a US university. He believes he could be only 12 months off an ultimate shot at the National Football League. His father Arthur said the hype surrounding his son was overwhelming. "Jesse's considered the number one recruit in the USA for 2011 for his position,'' Mr Williams said. "He was the only Australian picked in the world team to play against Team USA in Miami. Since then he's been absolutely bombarded.'' Jesse says his success overseas will open the door for other keen gridiron players in Australia wanting to try their luck. "To know someone can do it and it is possible for someone to do it, it really helps a lot of people,'' he said. "Also from the indigenous side of things . . . I can help a lot of people who are interested to take the path I took.''
