Genuine question lads , why are there so many national titles vacant in Australia ? On your latest rankings there are 8 vacant titles and some of them have been for a while , surely there are a few big nights of boxing to be put on with national titles at stake ? Anybody ?
Whenever fighters contest supposedly higher titles than the national titles they hold those Aussie titles are declared vacant. Couple this with a lack of active pro fighters in this country, and you end up with vacant titles all over the place.
They are, but unfortunately, some of the titlists are touch reluctant to defend the title against anyone that would/could most likely beat them...so they ditch it & go for some superior regional ****, against a dud, to maintain superiority Welterweight Tim Hunt is a classic example.
It's WBO's Asia Pacific, Oriental, African bit of marketing crap, as is PABA's & IBF's Pee Pee etc. End result = If one is good at it...one doesn't need any of them (leaches)
I agree mate and welcome to ESB , the route that should be taken is Aussie Champ then have a tilt at the Commonwealth title ala Jarrod Fletcher , if he had won that he would have been on the fringe of world class and imo entitled to fight for one of the main four titles .
..bring back the pride in the Aussie title..somehow..something should be done to improve this situation..
Couldn't agree more. But while all these nothing titles that provide enticing shortcuts are around, the Aussie title will remain right where it is.
