Apparently terms are being hashed out (per F-News).

This is a huge opportunity for someone in Trout's position.

The 24 year old former standout amateur has run up a perfect 21-0, but has struggled to remain active of late, and has not had much in the way of stiff challenges (his biggest professional win to date being a shutout of Marcos Primera, a heavy handed spoiler who now boasts a losing record) nor any significant big-market TV exposure (remember Wednesday Night Fights on ESPN2? Yeah...)

Ishida, for his part, has been the beneficiary of fortunate circumstances, claiming an interim title with a win over slugging Colombian gatekeeper Oney Valdez due to the mysterious workings of the WBA. He is ten years older but three inches taller at 6'1" and would likely be hosting in his home of Japan, where it is rumored he has been awarded unearned decisions.

If it comes together, how does it play out?

I doubt you'll find too many people who have seen either of these guys. I can't remember ever watching Trout, and I catch just about everything that's on TV. What little I've seen of Ishida tells me he's lanky and awkward and has a good jab, but has some pretty big defensive holes if you can get inside the jab.

I remember Nader Hamdan saying he gave Ishida a pretty lopsided schooling with his jab when they fought. He said he was a pretty tough cookie though.

Bones Kelly was pretty livid about the draw he got despite getting dropped twice in the first by awkward shots.

Didnt see either fights however and those fights were some time ago, its hard to say how Ishida has come along since then as I know sweet **** all about the guys he beat to get where he is.

Trout looks solid enough from the little Ive seen of him...If all is fair and he isnt overawed he should come back home with the "title".

Trout was used as a sparring partner for Kelly Pavlik to get ready for Martinez. I heard him in an interview. He was getting screwed over with his mandatory position and the org wasn't forcing his right, that is why he was so inactive. He didn't want to lose his position and couldn't get the champ to fight. Good reports out of Kelly's camp about him. Take it for what it's worth.
