Austin Trout in a recent interview was asked about the possibility of fighting Alvarez and this was his response. He also went on to imply that a potential date with Mayweather vs. Alvarez in Sept. was not going to happen. Now this is obviously because he's confident he will beat Alvarez and those plans will change. But Trout unlike Alvarez, is not looking to far down the road, and said his only concern is his next opponent.

    Trout vs Mayweather in September

"I was trying not to get too excited about the possibility of the fight," Trout said when a reporter broke the news to him that the fight had been set. "Not Canelo personally, but his handlers were 100 percent against a fight with Austin Trout. Canelo would go out there and say this was the fight he wanted, but [Golden Boy promoter Oscar] De La Hoya would shoot the fight down.

"Canelo put his foot down and said this was the fight he wanted. He said he was ready. God bless him. I'm here to show the world he's not. But he made the people who work for him make it happen, and boxing and the fans thank him."

As confident as Alvarez sounds, his handlers don't seem to be as enthusiastic about fighting Trout. I guess it's neither here nor there but I'm glad the fight will be happening.

I would like to see that fight. I just don't see Haymon green-lighting that ****. But Trout deserves that payday and a chance to make history.

Austin Trout seems like a well spoken good boy.

    I wish him luck.

He was pushing for Mayweather-Martinez for years now like it was going to happen. He'll always be the half glass Floyd won't always duck, it's just a tuneup type of fan. It's admirable optimism/loyalty.

the Martinez fight just came down to bad timing. Because of Floyd's legal issues, the only time they could have made the fight was in place of Ortiz and Floyd wasn't gonna fight him right away after being off for 14 months.

I respect trout but we all know he can't hurt canelo. He might out box him here & there but see him getting pounded eventually.Does have a point though shouldn't ever overlook an opponent especially a champion.

Alvarez will break Trout's ribs. Void is afraid of Alvarez, refused to fight him. And Void is extremely afraid of Sergio Martinez!!! Martinez offered to fight Void at 154 or even go all the way down to 150, but Void still ran away. Void is void. Void will fight a featherweight in his next fight.
