Austin Trout V Anthony Mundine - August?

He's starving himself by choice though, and it's the wrong choice IMO. They'd be far better getting something set with Geale a division up.

 

Id imagine the weigh in will be a bit more "fair dinkum" now that trout is the belt holder instead of a poor argentinian.

Lets see. If mundine makes 154 he will be a dead man walking.

Regardless, trout is going to destroy him.

 

At the end of the day this potential fight is precisely what is wrong with boxing today, and why boxing is known as the most corrupt sport on the planet.

WBA JMW rankings:

• Super Champ = Miguel Cotto
• World Champ = Austin Trout
• No1 contender = NOT RATED
• No 2 contender = Zaurbek Baysangurov
• No 3 contender = Anthony Mundine

Mundine's high rank at JMW must be due to his previous ranking at MW. Let's take a look at that - in the 5 fights Mundine had at MW:

• 1 was against a career WW/JMW past his best;
• 1 was against a genuine MW in a controversial split decision win to Mundine.
• 1 was against a career JMW who he forced to come up to MW 1 week before the fight
• 2 were against the Wood, who he made come down to MW after originally agreeing to fight him at SMW. He was knocked out by Wood in their first fight, which was Mundine's second-last fight at MW.

Or maybe his high ranking at JMW is due to his last opponent, who was a career WW ranked 281 at MW who he fought at a catchweight above JMW.

In summary, Mundine is effectively the WBA's 5th-ranked JMW, despite the fact he hasn't yet legitimately weighed in and fought within the JMW 154lb limit, and is financially in a position to offer the WBA's 2nd ranked 154lber the biggest payday of his career to come down to Australia and defend his second-tier title against him.

Why doesn't Trout fight Cotto to prove he is the WBA's best JMW? Because the WBA won't let their 'champs' fight each other, because it removes one of their sanctioning fee income streams.

Why doesn't Mundine fight Baysangurov to become the WBA's no 1 ranked JMW contender? Because the WBA get no sanctioning fees (and therefore no income) from non-title fights.

Why isn't there a no 1 ranked WBA JMW contender? Same answer as above.

There is nothing legit about Trout's title, nor the fact that Mundine is in a position to be able to lure Trout out here to defend it against him.

Mundine has bought himself a shot at a meaningless title by collecting even more meaningless local titles in his 5 fights at MW, all of which resulted in sanctioning fees being paid to the WBA :deal

Trout ain't no champion. Regardless, it should be a good fight if Mundine can make weight and not be too weakened by it.

 

Agree with most of that IBM but the general public will lap it up and most posters on here if not all will watch if it goes ahead.

He wont make weight, plain and simple.

He would have to lose a leg to get down to JMW, no chance!

The only way this fight goes ahead is with dodgy scales or hotel room weigh in.

 

Zaurbek Baysangurov is not a bad fighter in his own right, seen him on the sky racing channel by chance and was impressed!

Choc would stay well away from an eliminator with that kid....

 

no hes fighting past there best journeymen for no belt. If this happens props to mundine but it still doesnt rule out the fact that this is the sort of opposition he should always have been facing, at least green forks out the big amounts of cash to bring big names to australian boxing , whilst giving up and comers great exposure. and as ibm stated before, this thread is about mundine vs trout, stop trying to bring green into it because thats when the thread will turn into a **** fight

Mundine will make weight No problems, any consipiracy anacdotes saying otherwise are wishfull mundine bashing thinking!.
Great fight if it comes off against a legitimate threat and talented opponent!
I'll definetly be going to the fight if happens and cheering on Choc!

I think Mundine will get a beating if he takes this fight, he will be to weak at the weight and Trout can fight. he better trying to make the geale fight, he will make more money and he can make the weight and be completive.
