As anyone who saw Trout's last fight will tell you, he looked pretty bad. I can't remember a fighter falling off the wagon this hard in recent times since Alfred Angulo He went from being competitive at a world level to getting hit way too much, looking off balance and flat against a very medicore fighter pushing 40 who has little power. He was on the canvas twice from clean, hard shots. Grajeda is very mediocre except for his power, which is nuclear... If he can hit you. His infuriatingly low work rate and lack of fire reminds me of fellow sloth footed, molasses like work rate banger Jose Luis Lopez. Anyway, he can take a punch and deliver one. He's undoubtedly going to be there for the distance and he's going to connect on Trout at some time. Trout has been down 4 times in his last 3 fights. A testament to Gradjeda's power... He knocked out Camacho Jr in a far more devastating manner than David Lemiux managed. Literally knocked him into a near coma with a single shot. Also, Grajeda hurt china chinned Willie Nelson worse than Vanes recently managed. He was absolutely out on his feet and a punch away from being out of there. Again, the issue is Grajeda's inability to fight in multiple gears. Willie basically ran the entire fight, fought an intelligent fight and got a narrow points win. Thing is, Trout is substantially shorter than the massive Willie Nelson, has a 9' inch disadvantage in reach (Yes, you read that correctly) and does not have the fairly tight guard that Nelson has shown himself capable of. He simply gets hit far too often. Anyone want to take a guess on this one? :think
I saw both those matches, and it wouldn't shock me in the least. Grajeda should be considered a live underdog. But Austin should pull it off.
I don't know how to gauge Trouts comeback fight He went down and looked hurt but he recovered and dominated I tend to see it as passing a difficult stumble to dominate in the way he was expected to to begin with
Depends on what kinda shape grajeda is in. He barely trained two weeks for the willie nelson fight and I didn't see him spar once.
Is he a lackadaisical trainer in general? Give us a heads up on how he's doing now. Fights in just a few days! :good
I won't be back there until January. I think he took the willie nelson fight on short notice. He hit backs and mitts and jumped rope but he never sparred. Terrell gausha and Gilberto Ramirez were sparring I assumed he would work w them but he never got in there.
Some of Trouts performance against Dawson could be down to ring rust. One would hope hes dusted that off
Guess we'lll find out in a few days. Outside of the Cotto fight Trout has never looked particularly special against top fighters, but he should be able to handle Grajeda well enough. That said, if Dawson can get the KD why not Grajeda? It could be, as some have said, that Austin was still shaking off a little rust, but it also looked like Dawsons ankle made a difference too, so it's hard to tell. I would be surprised, but not amazed by the upset.
Trout has been knocked down in 3 consecutive fights, the writing is on the wall. Now its up to Trout to pull through and elevate his game.
Paging that guy that picked grajeda in the prediction league...think his name is IB our something? :think
