    * Maloney twins are keeping active in the gym and hoping to have some concrete news
on them in the next week or so , just awaiting confirmation from Top Rank.
    * Danny Jacobs is hoping to return to the ring in Nov at 168 lbs. Wonder if Daniel Lewis
will join his training camp as sparring partner again ?
    * Deedee Hobbs will be returning to the ring on either the DDP Oct or Nov show.
    * Looks the Horn vs Zerafa Bendigo undercard apart from the Fenech prodigy fight
will be a zzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Stuart Duncan has posted he wants HW and SMW to
contact him to fight 6 rd fights.
    * Tasman Fighter looks they have invested and will be around for a while as
Mike Francis has invested in a new 20 x 20 ring.
    * Justis Huni will be the main event fighter.

    * Nobody could be grudge John Wayne Parr one last big final pay day as kick boxers
make peanuts. Remember when i met my old kick boxing coach to catch up and
he introduced to somebody i later found out was the enforcer for a major bikie gang
and he in fact introduce me to a gentleman who i didn't realize at the time was Mark
Hunt .He was a man mountain and a man of few words and had the demeanor of a
man not to be messed with.

It's important Andrew Moloney stays active against decent opposition. One of the gaps that exists between himself & the champ (Kal Yafai) is that the champ got 12 rounds of world championship action under his belt last start against a decent opponent while Moloney's last start was a farce (through no fault of his own). You can't have that gap in terms of quality of opposition & expect to win a world title. They need to spend some money on a decent opponent for him or it's going to cost him badly when his title shot comes around. And yes, he has fought some decent opponents but to keep pace with the champ he needs another one in the second half of this year.

I'm not sure what the Olympic qualification process will be for our amateur boxers next year. In 2016, winning the Oceania tournament wasn't enough to get you there. You had to finish top 3 in an Oceania & Asia Olympic qualification tournament which featured countries like Uzbekistan, Kazakhastan etc. It made it very tough to qualify which is why we only qualified two. The Kiwis didn't qualify anyone. Whatever the process is next year, let's hope Justis Huni makes it through. He could be a phenomenon on the local scene when he turns pro - hopefully after a successful Olympics campaign.

Edit - I just looked up Olympic qualifying for 2020 & it looks like it is going to be easier than it was in 2016. The Oceania & Asia qualifying tournament is still applicable but more than just the top 3 in each division will go through. At Super Heavy & Heavyweight, which is where Justis Huni & David Nyika will compete, the top 4 will qualify for the Olympics. So that means they will have to make the semi-finals of the tournament to qualify. Last time, semi-final losers had to box-off with each other for an Olympics spot. That's how Daniel Lewis & Jason Whateley qualified in 2016.

That amateur promotion mentioned above in Juppity's post is the kind of show that Justis Huni should be fighting the Kiwi David Nyika on. Come on, David. Don't stay over there in New Zealand hiding from us. Come out to play. Kiwis, come out to playeee-aaay!

Nyika doesn't wanna school him like he did to Jason Whateley at the Commonwealth Games haha. Nah but seriously I would like to see it too. Obviously I like to see the Kiwis do well on the world stage but its also good to see the Aussies crack it too. It only boosts the sport in this part of the world.

    * A lot of boxing judges are predicting a Cowboy upset and believe the pressure of
heading a PPV event has force the Tszyu camp into a fight that he is not ready for at this
time. The word is the Cowboy is incredibly focused and the problem is will the Fox boxing
revival halt if Tszyu loses ?
    * Tayla Harris is being coached by former Aus SMW Champ Faris Chevalier.
    * Wes Capper had an international fight in Poland in July and lost his world rating
is fighting Emanuel Carlos who beat Wade Ryan in last fight . Joe Camilleri is
making his Stretton Gym debut on same card in Melb Sept.
    * World rated Zac Dunn and Kane Watts fighting Melb Oct with Gage Ireland to
make first defense of Aus LW Title.
    * Albion Sam Goodman has the pedigree to be special.

They need to keep Junior Tszyu winning to build interest in the sport. He'll bring back all the old Tszyu fans (of whom there are many) and hopefully attract a few new ones along the way. He & Horndog are also the only ones who can head up PPVs. The rest aren't ready for that yet. Others can head up regular Foxtel shows & increase their profiles in doing so.

Fox have the right idea with Jai Opetaia. An opponent like David Light would likely need to be PPV though. Interesting that they went one each as amateurs. It looks like a professional contest is in order as a rubber match decider.

Daniel Lewis is another one who Fox will presumably be seeking to build up from here. He showed against Wade Ryan that he's got what it takes to be a television-friendly headline attraction.

I don't think Junior Tszyu is being rushed but Wake in Fright Ritchie will present a significant challenge. If Tszyu were to win, he needs more fights before being matched with Horndog though. I mentioned guys like Ray Robinson & Wale Omotoso a while back when they were inactive. Both have since fought a couple of times & given their opponents very hard fights.

Consecutive fights against those two following on from Joel Camilleri & Wake in Fright Ritchie would have Tszyu primed & ready for a Horndog fight.

See Lucky Boy's fight from the weekend to assess the risk he poses. Going 10 hard rounds with him would move Tszyu from prospect to contender. First things first though. Let's see if he can beat Wake in Fright Ritchie.

Ritchie is a skilled fighter and I wouldn't be surprised if he beat Tszyu Jnr. But from what you are saying I can see Ritchie getting robbed on the cards in this fight as Ritchie is not a big puncher and Fox sports need to protect their investment. In saying that Tszyu can win this fight legit as he has improved so I am hoping for a fair contest where the best man wins.

Even if Browne gets the Little fight on the Loma under card he could still fight Tupou on the Mundine Parr under card in November.

Ritchie needs to beat Tim convincingly to get the draw. Not having a go at Timbo Slice but that's the reality of it.

That being it said I think that's a real possibility, like I said previous Cowboy is one of those guys who will just bank the rounds if you don't get on top of him. It's the right kind of step up because it unlikely to be a career destroying KO if he loses and there is reward with the risk, a likely top 5 ranking.
If Tszyu is fair dinkum he needs to show he is level above these kind of local guys. So I don't think it's to much to soon, probably just the right kind of challenge.

Cant understand why Tszyu's fight is PPV - goes to show how bad boxing is in this country if people will be paying for this fight and how naive Fox Sports are in marketing and growing a fan base

Boxing has always been a complete farce in this country. Bums and rugby league players are seen as boxing superstars LOL. Two complete bums Bob Mirovic - John Hopoate was a ppv main event in Australia. It's hilarious.

It's his father's name being used for more financial gain . Jerkic should be the main bout on this card .
