My new top 20 Australian fighters to watch based on talent, potential & achievement. I've waited to see the results from last night before declaring who's who in the Australian boxing zoo. I haven't jumped the gun!

    1. Andrew Moloney 20-0(13) WBA #1 Jr Bantam, 2014 Cth games gold medalist
    2. Michael Zerafa 27-3(16) - The Horndog slayer
    3. Dennis Hogan 28-2-1(7) - Uncrowned WBO Jr Middle champ
    4. Jeff Horndog 19-2-1(13) - Former WBO Welter champ, 2012 Olympian
    5. TJ Doheny 21-1(15) - Former IBF Jr Feather champ

    6. Jason Moloney 19-1(16) - WBA #3 Bantamweight
    7. Tim The Toolman Tszyu 14-0(10) - A long way to go, but making good progress.
    8. Jai Opetaia 18-0(14) - 2012 Olympian - Form has plateaued a bit. We need him to push on.
    9. Daniel Lewis 3-0(2), 2016 Olympian. With Horndog's star fading, he's another we need to bring through.
    10. Justis Huni - Amateur, but big hope for 2020 Olympics

    11. George Kambosos Jr 17-0(10) - IBF #3 Lightweight. Not getting the fights he needs to stay sharp.
    12. Rohan Murdock 24-1(1&) - WBO #2 Super Middle. Not sighted this year.
    13. Liam Paro 17-0(11) - WBO #2 Jr Welter. Very steady, but not quite generating the buzz that others have managed to.
    14. Brock Jarvis 17-0(15) - IBF #15 Jr Feather. Good win last night against a tough opponent.
    15. Cesar Mateo Tapia 11-0(6) - Very impressed with this guy last start. Will go higher on the list.

    16. Liam Wilson 4-0(3) Terrific talent on the way up. I think he might be a bit better than some of our other bigger name prospects.
    17. Jason Whateley 5-0(4) - 2016 Olympian, 2018 Cth games silver medalist
    18. Joe Goodnight Goodall 6-0-1(5) - 2017 World Amateur championships bronze medalist, 2014 Cth games silver medalist.
    19. Damien Hooper 14-1(9) - 2012 Olympian. Great talent but needs to get back soon before it's too late.
    20. Paul Fleming 26-0(12) - 2008 Olympian. Another great talent, but he's long overdue to step it up.

    21. Harry Garside - Amateur, 2018 Cth games gold medalist, 2020 Olympics contender

On the down side, there's not a single reigning world champion among them. On the plus side, it's the best bunch of young talent we've had since at least 2000.

No bias, no agenda. Just how I see it. There are those who have achieved more who aren't on the list but I've principally gone with younger blokes on the way up. I think they're the ones who boxing fans in this country want to see in action & who should be getting the television appearances & dollars.

There's still a role for the older guys to play, but it's as opponents for these younger blokes to climb over & hopefully one day climb higher than.

All in all wasn't a bad night except for those mistakes . Zerafa's fight gave me a nice high buzzed me out .
    Horn probably will retire
Now . Look after his family .

Very True that U would think one of these boxer's could get a world title but who will ? .
It won't be Damien Hooper his scrambled eggs .
I'd rather have Jerkic there instead of Hooper

Got to agree. It turned out to be a compelling night's viewing. Drama from start to finish.

Oddly enough, the thing I was most unhappy about watching last night was the judges scores in the first televised fight of the night.

I don't follow women's boxing but seeing that young woman, Bianca Elmir, lose her unbeaten record to Shannon O"Connell in a fight I thought she clearly won really disturbed me. She showed a bit of charisma coming out to the ring & then delivered a winning performance against a much more experienced opponent only to have one of the judges only give her a single round. That's just not good enough in my book. Let's hope she gets more television appearances. She even managed to be gracious in defeat despite obviously being dudded. I'm not happy about that one.

I think Horndog should keep going but can they please stfu about fighting Canelo & GGG?

How about relaunching at Junior Middle (which is where he should have been campaigning in the first place) where all the action is? He's been stopped in 2 of his last 3 now so they need to take it slow. Putting him straight back in with Zerafa would probably be a mistake although I think it's a different fight up there in Queensland.

Come again champ? Please bow to a potential member of the royal family on this forum as i believe i have earned a spot. I cashed in very nicely on this fight, very nicely! As i said before odds can be swayed by hype and you and others bought into it, horn was being massively overated by some of you guys and i believe some of you are also closet flat earthers. Please pay your respects my friend.

Prowler never actually picked Zerefa he just said he was a chance to beat Horn but didn't have the balls to stick his neck out an outright pick him, sparta was the only person 1 saw on here who actually picked him and put his money on it

Good win for Zerefa who totally demolished Horn, unlike the drongos in here you won't see me making excuses for Horn who hopefully will move back down to junior-middle.

Mate, In the poll 4 people picked Zerafa to KO Horn, Prowler was one of the 4.
Horn fighting at middle had fu*k all to do with him getting mugged badly. That fight at 154 would have played out the same.Even Horns
team failing to throw the towel showed they are out of their depth in the basics of boxing, part of their job is to protect their boxers welfare
in those situations. They failed miserably.
