Fujimoto vs. Leapai sounds like a great chance for both men to spin the wheel and gamble on an improvement of their standing in the division. 50-50 IMO.
Josey Kris George trainer is Craig Mongale and manager is Brendan Smooth who also trained and managed Katsidis. Michael is now a personal trainer on the Gold Coast and has helped George prepare for many of his previous fights by sparring.
Check out his scrap with Nasio. Until it was usurped by fights like Klitschko/Joshua and Breazeale/Ugonoh is was a sleeper frontrunner for HW FOTY. FTR I think he outboxes this version of Leapai. 60/40 - 70/30 fight in Fujimoto's favor.
Im happy Kats is doing well thanks for the reply Jupp and for the updates, I've been a fan of boxing down under since Ferrari , Fenech , Harding etc were in their pomp (way before the interweb made it easier ) though I must admit Jeff Harding is my all time favourite Aussie fighter any idea how he's bopping along mate ?
Aust boxers have always had a connection with Rugby League. The North Queensland Cowboys are helping Jeff Horn cut man Stephen Edwards. Edward met recently with Cowboy's medical staff to compare notes on the treatment of cuts. Edwards spoke to star players Jason Taumalolo , Gavin Cooper and Jonathan Thurston . Edwards has had to work overtime in Horns last two fights. Melb Storm flyer Josh Aldo Carr who was leading try scorer in the NRL last season is the grandson of indigenous fighter Wally Carr. Wally had 101 pro fights and was national champ at LMW , MW and LHW . Wally was inducted into the Aust Boxing Hall of Fame 2010.
Jeff Horn world title fight against Crawford has hit a hurdle after Horn's promoter Dean Lonegran warned someone could be killed because of the use of the Everlast MX gloves. Mayweather said of MX gloves " There ain't no padding in the gloves . This is boxing, not bare knuckle brawling . " Dean wrote a letter sending it to Bob Arum , Crawford manager , Brian McIntyre of Nevada State Athletic Commission , Bob Bennett president of WBO , Aust WBO rep Danny Leigh demanding that MX gloves be dropped for the fight and asking the question if these gloves are used and there is a serious injury or worse and it comes down to the difference in the type of glove used who carries liability for the outcome and what will be the liability be ?
Yea thanks Jupp I've been aware Jeff has been battling the Booze for some time now and I hope he can learn to battle his demons and get the upper hand on it , fantastic champion no matter what, no one can say any different .
IMHO using these gloves indicate the sport is going backwards to a time where fighters shipped unnecessary damage . in a time now where we have the sense , responsibility and duty of care to have paramedics ringside etc we then still have the glove issue unresolved.
Jeff Horn team has won the first rd with Crawford promising not to use the MX gloves. But the mind games continue with no contractual guarantee's that Crawford camp won't change their mind. Crawford trainer/ manager Brian McIntyre replying to Lonergran said '' We don't wear horse hair gloves , so stop saying like we cheat. That is not our style. Just make sure Jeff is ready to fight ready. Quit trying to use this as distraction it does not work. Have a good day. "
Billy Dib is hoping his IBF 122 lb title fight with Tevin Farmer will be held in Sydney late July. Official purse bids will be held shortly. Dib is now trained by Jeff Fenech after training with the Garcia brothers Robert and Mikey in USA in 2017.
Damien Super Hooper is now rated no 7 at WBO LHW. Irishman Darragh Foley who now fights out of Aust and is no 6 at WBA 140 lbs has ambitious plans. This content is protected
Would like to see Super Hooper in with the winner of Blake Caparello v Trent Broadhurst. Let's get it on.
