Blake Caparello vs. Trent Broadhurst is headlining a card on EpiCentre beginning in about 10 hours, if that interests anyone.
Michael Zerafa UD10 Wade Ryan (99-91, 100-90, 98-92). Entertaining fight & a good win by Zerafa. Wade Ryan kept him honest all the way. Great respect for his performance. Zerafa is talking about defending his Cth title in England. I suggest he consider keeping it in Australia. Don't like seeing our blokes keep going over there to drop it to the highest bidder. Put some prestige back in the belt & use it to headline fights out here. Turning it into a second-tier British title devalues the belt.
Broadhurst dropped 3 times in the first. No punch resistance whatsoever. Il Capo TKO 1 Trent Broadhurst.
Caparello came out smokin'. Broadhurst was down & badly hurt after 30 seconds. Down again not long after. Ref gave him a chance to steady the ship but had to call it after the third knockdown.
I'd like to see Michael Zerafa defending his Cth Jr Middleweight title in Australia against Tim Tszyu. Terrific fight that would be. I favour Tim the Toolman. I think his physical strength & punching power could prove the difference. I'd like to see Blake Caparello against Damien Hooper. Hooper has terrific skills but Caparello would go after his chin the same way he did with Broadhurst. If his chin holds up, Hooper gets it done.
I was just about to remark, after glancing at the 4 major org rankings (https://fightnews.com/rankings-2) that Il Capo has disappeared from all but the WBO's (he was in the WBC and I believe WBA top 15 but no longer after the loss to Chilemba - who is now at #5 & #12 in each org respectively) and even that he's only barely hanging onto by a thread. His blitz of Broadhurst might help tread water but probably won't push him up too far...but a pretty easy fight to make, that could be a fair moneymaker domestically, is Caparello vs. current WBO #7 light heavyweight Damien Hooper. Then, however, I noticed this: https://www.thechronicle.com.au/news/police-search-damien-hooper-after-assault/3428218/ So perhaps we oughtn't hold our breath just now for any fights involving Hooper to be made, until his legal troubles clear up.
