Aust FW Champ Luke Jackson has been mentioned as the opponent for Carl Frampton interim WBO Title fight Aug 18 . LHW Damien Hooper career just as it hot's up is in serious jeopardy. He was arrested for alleged assault of an police officer. He was taken into custody following a struggle with police in Toowoomba . This content is protected This content is protected
Some good news for Hooper in that. It doesn't look like those charges from last year will be going anywhere. Just needs to learn not to punch on with others outside the boxing ring. Particularly if they're wearing police uniforms. He's obviously got a volatile personality but needs to learn to cool it or walk/run away when the red mist descends. Giving the alcohol a miss wouldn't hurt either. The most recent disturbance started in a pub.
All I saw was a couple of buildings - when were they going to fight? Crowd should have beaten the cameraman to death with his phone.
Same old news when it comes to Hooper - he will never learn. Matter of time before he does some serious jail time or worse IMO.
That's what concerns me. His only real chance of making something of himself is through his boxing career. If they lock him up for a long stretch at this point that goes out the window. There's no doubt he's volatile. I'd like to think underneath that volatility, there's a decent person. It's up to him to show it.
Bondi based Irishman TJ Doherty will finally fight for a world title. Aug 16 Tokyo he will fight for the IBF 122 lb Champ Ryosuke Iwasa. Damien Hooper arguably one of Aust most talented fighters can not seem to keep himself out of trouble. Come on Damien buckle down on get u life back on track. U have a young family to look after. Terrible music - repeatedly using a racial slur and trying to pass it off as talent. He has the flag on his top yet uses that **** - real empowering.
Trust me if you've walked on an assault police charge it ain't over by a long way , the bloke is a marked man now and if he's not careful will end as a Death in custody statistic , that's the way it works here if you go about throwing your weight around . like you said he needs to work to his potential earn enough cash to relocate .
Can't say I'm overly enthused about Horn v Mundine but I guess it pays better than anything else. I'd have gone Lenny Zappa first fight back, then Jessie Vargas then back to the US. Presumably it also depends on what weight he wants to campaign at.
Jeff received 1m for Pacquiao and 1m for Corcoran and 2.5m for Crawford. A fight with Mundine would bring another million plus payday. Jessie Vargas $ 200 k. Jeff was badly cut in Pac fight and cut again with Corcoran and 26 stitches for Crawford fight and once again and will have to see a plastic surgeon . Jeff has reached his Everest and Jeff would be wise to cash out and think very serious about his 5 yr plan.
Can't blame Horn for taking an easy money fight against the bigger Mundine after losing his 1st fight against 1 of the top P4P fighters. At the moment I can't see him beating any of the current champs at welterweight but despite some laughable opinions post fight about Horn there is still plenty of options for him at welter and light-middleweight after he beats Mundine .
