I think they’ve done the right thing and made him have a rest. He’s greased lightning in terms of hand speed and footwork. But he’s not a massive heavyweight. It’s going to be fun to watch, regardless.

Let's hope Justis Huni is back in action on that April show. And with a decent opponent, not a pushover, given he's only going to get another couple of fights in before the Olympics. And not against heavy punchers like Alex Leapai or Lucas Browne. Fight them after the Olympics.

Fair dinkum. It's hard work getting the balance right on these things. Timmy Tool Time v Dennis Hogan on 31 March followed by Justis Huni in early April would be a couple of local shows to really look forward to.

Juppity is right about needing either Justis or Jai Opetaia headlining those footballer fight shows. Boxing fans won't fork out PPV money to watch footballers going at it (although football fans, of whom there are many, might).

300-pages for the Stifler's Mum thread also, inside of 3 years. And still going strong. A great tribute to a great poster.

Sandy, the only issue is that there isn't many guys for Huni to fight full stop while this pandemic is on. I had no issues at all with him fighting Jamie Porter in his third pro fight. If you go through the records of the likes of Holyfield, Lennox Lewis, Tyson, Holmes, etc etc etc, none of them were setting the world alight in the opening stages of their careers and they could fight anyone. The reality is that he needs to get numbers on his log before he fights for major belts anyway. Just my 2c.

I appreciate that good opponents are hard to come by in the H/W division in this country but they're out there.

I'd distinguish Justis Huni's situation from the names you mentioned in that he will be facing world class opposition in an Olympics a few months from now.

If we want him to win gold, or even medal, we need to feed him the best possible opposition we can between now & then.

I thought the first couple of opponents Justis faced were a great preparation for an Olympics campaign. They fought at a fast pace, were of a decent standard & actually tried hard to win. Another couple of those, or the same again, I think is what's required.

Not so much for his future professional prospects as for his immediate Olympics preparation.

His layoff, or more precisely, the reasons for it, has complicated things a bit. Hopefully he comes good after a rest & his punch resistance remains at the level that it appeared during his first two pro fights.

    * Wilson has said they were fighting April 14. Billel Dib has said this date off due to Ramadan. This is a excuse the NRL players still play.
    * Floyd Masson vs Quentin Cary for Aust CW Title March 27.
    * Joe Goodall looking strong after layoff after shoulder surgery and eyeing a potential world ranking . Huni vs Goodall down the track sounds good to me.

Not sure exactly where Kambosos is fighting Lopez but with same promotion team, another big outdoor card here with both fights is a chance youd think and would be awesome
