    Thanks mate.

Good to see Tapia back in action. One of mine and @Sandman_ local favourites.

A shame with Opetaia's career it's lost a bit of momentum in the last year or so. I guess a tune up awaits him next?

He's in my top 10 of best Australian fighters & has been for a while. Young blokes of that standard with the potential to climb higher are the ones who should get most of the TV opportunities in this country (and it's pleasing to see now mostly do). That's who fight fans principally want to watch (imo). Those fighters can't build a following or generate any money if no-one gets to see them fight. So yes, it will be good to see him back in action. The Junior Tszyu undercard was looking a bit thin but with Cesar Mateo Tapia, Wade Ryan & Paul Fleming all fighting, it's now looking solid.

There's some decent local opposition out there for Tapia if the fights can be made. I wouldn't mind seeing him take on the best from Queensland, Victoria & New Zealand plus a couple of others. In no particular order, say Rohan Murdock 24-2 (17), Jayde Mitchell 20-2 (10) & Mose Auimatagi Jr 14-2 (9). Maybe Zac Dunn & Bilal Akkawy as well. That's five very tough local fights for the young bloke that would be worth seeing. That's the standard I'd like to see him fighting at.

The biggest problem with developing Australian fighters properly isn't that they don't face enough decent quality international opposition. It's that they don't face enough decent quality international opposition OR face the best available local opposition before taking on higher standard international fights. I think Junior Tszyu's career thus far is testament to the value of facing the best available fighters amongst the local ranks. Before him, that's how Anthony Mundine did it. Both had money behind them of course which allows the fights to get made. But it's a legitimate pathway.

To that end, it was good to see (even though I didn't see) Liam Paro face the highest ranked Australian Light Welter available this week. If he fights again before a world title shot, I'd like to see him in with that Irish Light Welter who put on the fight of the year last year, Darragh Foley. Beat him & Paro would go into a world title shot knowing that he is definitely the best from this part of the world. No need to import anyone. That Irishman is as tough as they come & has a decent amount of skill.

    * Mateo Tapia looking for new opponent. How about the Scorpion ?
    * Clay Waternan vs Charlie Bubb fight could be the fight of the night April 10 . From comments Bubb is a 50 % chance of winning and though he is only 1 - 0 he is seriously fit winning a 8 Men K1 Eliminator in Melb on the weekend.

Seems like Mateo has slim pickings around that weight to fight on short notice.

Its funny how you randomly hear about something called an Australasian title, that they pull out of thin air evey so often, that likely has no bearing on world rankings.
I also wonder what promoters are paying for these smaller alphabet belts and rubbish titles like that and others like the oceania titles etc:lol:

No surprise just more corruption in QLD that a total bum like Ben Horn can even contest a title of any sorts.
