Would be a big step up for both fighters and a crossroad fight. But after the Soliman
vs Singh debacle it better being held at a neutral venue.

    Yeah, really good point.

We don't want our best young talent getting screwed by petty domestic boxing politics.

Sad really. Would be a good match-up but there's no point putting it on if it's not on the up and up.

Fighting the kid from Shepparton in Bendigo is probably asking for trouble.

What happened to the other Tszyu brother, remember reading years ago he apparently had a lot more natural talent and speed than Tim did.

That first Dib-Bruno fight was a disgusting display from the referee. He had a hot microphone on the FITE.TV stream, and you could hear him coaching Dib in between rounds. I’ll try to upload a video if anyone is actually interested. I’m excited for this second one though. That Bruno kid was actually quite exciting and I hope the officiating gets sorted out and isn’t a circus.

The undercard was disgraceful, its a problem thats been in Australian boxing for years, just fly out South East Asian part time boxers to take a beating - make yourself feel good and stall your own development. That is why boxing is going no where in this country and why our boxers go no where when they fight overseas, false sense of ability. Competition is tough in Europe and the states right from the beginning, the guys with clean records have mostly earned them, sure there is cherry picking everywhere but not nearly as bad as it is here in Australia.

The Tszyu fight was just a waste of time and if i was Tszyu i'd be pissed off with my manager/match maker for that - that does not do anything for him whatsoever, he will just be a domestic fighter living off his dad's name. The "knock out punch" didnt even land

Juppity did call it out weeks ago on this thread.

The original opponent for Tszyu was Sam Colomban, the national 154 lb champ, who would have been a good test for him at this stage of his career.

The fights are as they are in Australia b/c there's very little money in the sport here & we're half a world away from the two top boxing markets in the world in the US & Europe.

What's required to develop talent is skilful match-making and spending dollars on the right opponents.

And a willingness for the best domestic talent to fight each other at the appropriate times (which too often doesn't happen).

Tszyu's opponent wasn't up to it on Friday night but his previous three have been okay.

Tszyu is nearly ready to step it up but with only 30-odd amateur fights behind him they need to take it slow.

He's progressing well as far as I'm concerned.

Logan Alex Leapai is chasing another big fight in Europe after destroying Roger Izonritei in 1st rd. Leapai attacked from the opening bell and dropped Roger first face at the end of the 1st rd.
Trainer Noel Thornberry is looking for another big opportunity in Europe or UK. '' We have received interest for fights against leading Cuban Luis Oritz and UK Derak Chisora and we are pushing for another big fight in Germany or Russia. Alex is very well known in Russia because he beat their world no 1 in Dennis Boystov to get the fight with Klitschko."

No problems with his hands mate. I believe it's neurological. He hasn't looked the same from around the time of the Mosley Jr fight. He was rocked hard a few times against Gunner Jackson from shots he would have eaten up and spat out a year or 2 ago. It's a real shame, he is a fine boxer and good bloke.

Who's next for Tim the Toolman?

Still no opponent announced for Bendigo on 8 Sept. I wouldn't mind taking a drive down there to watch this one but that will depend on who he's matched with. I'll probably take the easy option & watch a stream (assuming there is one).

Some of the guys I think it would be worthwhile him fighting in the foreseeable future are:

Samuel Colomban 25-10-1 (11) - Current Australian 154 lb champ - currently out injured.
Wale Omotoso 27-3 (21) - World class junior middle but likely on the way down.
Dwight Ritchie 18-1 (2) - Guys with good skills & no punching power are ideal opponents.
Michael Zerafa 24-2 (13) - Current Commonwealth 154 lb champ - has said he's not interested in facing Tszyu but money talks.
Rocky Jerkic 15-1 (12) - Former Australian 154 lb champ - he's about to hit the comeback trail.
Anthony Buttigieg 13-0 (3) - Former Commonwealth 154 lb champ - currently inactive but well credentialed.

We're not likely to see any of these guys in the opposite corner in Bendigo but hopefully we see Junior Tszyu in with a few of them soon.

You can add IBF no 15 154 lb Wales born but now Perth based former underground fighter Jamie Weetch.
    https://sports.vice.com/en_au/artic...e-and-beaten-but-jamie-weetch-is-still-pretty
Jamie calls out Tim Tszyu and puts the rest of 154 lbs on notice.

Yeah, he looks decent on paper. He's active & has a good string of wins behind him (including a win over Wade Ryan).

Tim the Toolman hasn't fought in WA yet. It's a long way to go for a fight, but if he's up to the 5-hour flight, why not. Or bring him out to the eastern states & then you don't have to worry about getting shafted in the wild west.

The other source of opponents I reckon Tszyu's team should consider is NZ. Quite a few decent looking types over there & if you brought them out here you wouldn't need to worry about home cooking. For example:

    Shay Brook 12-2-1 (6)
    Anthony Taylor 14-1-1 (8)
    Gunnar Jackson 27-11-4 (12)
Bowyn Morgan 17-1 (8) New Zealand Junior Middle champ

I wouldn't mind seeing a genuine "Australasian" championship fight after Tszyu fights Sam Colomban - the Australian champ versus the New Zealand champ. I've seen plenty of fights billed as "Australasian" championship fights but they're only legit if it's the actual Australian champ versus the actual New Zealand champ - which rarely happens.

It looks like the Tszyu kid is content to just continue his nationwide bum circuit.
